Joining the Pack

I had just laid her on the bed when the pack doctor ran in behind me. He took her vitals as I stood on guard watching over her. My mother came into room and went straight for Amy who was crying. My mother wrapped her arms around her and held her tight. We all stood there watching, waiting for the news from the doctor.

Finally Doctor Rane stood and looked at us.

"Alpha, Ive checked the young lady over, She fainted with to much stress, exhaustion, Whatever this young lady is going threw or has gone threw she is trying to block it out. There's one more thing Alpha, She is pregnant around 5 weeks I would say. I have taken a blood sample to run her blood work, I shall have the results later today."

My breath hitched in my throat when he said she was pregnant. what had happened to her? I knew I would have to talk to Amy and find out exactly what had happened. Doctor Rane bowed slightly and left.

Amy ran to the side of the bed and knelt down on the floor then took hold of her daughter's hand. I turned to my mother and asked her to talk to Amy. But mother knew something. I gestured with my head to the door and she followed me out closing the door behind us.

"Tell me?" I looked at her.

She looked back at the door then took a breath.

"Jerry, I don't know much you know most of what I already told you. but all that Amy had told me was that she needed to get her daughter away from the pack. Something had gone wrong and she was told to leave."

"Why?"

"I don't know, you would need to ask Amy. Whatever it is son that poor girl in there running scared, whatever hurt her she's trying to bury."

I looked at the closed door and closed my eyes. I felt a hand on my arm and I looked down at mum.

"You feel something don't you?"

I was silent for a few minutes, how do I explain this feeling?

"I don't know mum, from the first time I saw her come out of the car, Knox pushed forward. I feel a pull but Knox hasn't stated she is my mate. I feel protective of her, I scent her but there's another small scent on her. Now I know what that scent was, it's her pups."

I sighed deeply, I needed to know what has happened. I turned and walked to the bedroom door. I slowly opened it.

"Amy can I talk with you in my study?"

Amy looked at me and stood up. She placed a kiss on her daughters forehead then walked towards me. We walked back down to my study without saying a word.

As we entered Femi was on a call, he replaced the reciever then stood. I gave him a nod then he left the room closing the door behind him.

Amy sat down and I looked at her. Just then a knock on the door came and my mother walked in, she took a chair sitting beside Amy and took her hand.

I walked to my seat and sat down waiting for Amy to speak.

"Alpha, Jayla was raised in our pack, she grew up with Alpha Jace and the Beta, they were all raised together. Jayla and Jace has always been close. They did everything together, to be truthful Alpha we all thought they would become mates when Jayla came of age but it didn't happen. They decided to choose each other. The last week Jace said he had to go to the Alpha Summit, he told her that he would arrange their mating ceremony when he came back. But.... he brought his fated mate. An arguement happened and Jayla's wolf attacked his mate, he threw he out before Jayla had time to speak to him. I'm just thankful he did order her killed."

My breath hitched in my throat. But seriously she was lucky, very lucky. Any attack on an Alpha or Luna is death. But I won't let anything happen to her. She is here in my pack, on my lands this will become her home. Somewhere she can feel safe and raise her child peacefully.

But one thing I need to know is why. Why do I feel this pull towards her? why do I have the need to protect her?

After we finished talking my mother took Amy back to see Jayla. I had other matters to attend to. I needed to set up a doctors appointment for Jayla she would need weekly care. But I would also not push her, I would let her settle and hopefully she would come to rely on me for things that she needed.

That evening in my study I got a mind link from the security at the borders edge that Amy's husband had arrived. I allowed him in and waited for him to be escorted to the farm house. Amy came out behind me waiting for her husband. I looked at her she seemed anxious.

"Everything alright Amy?"

"Yes Alpha, I wasn't expecting Bryan to come here, I just pray to the Moon Goddess it isn't any bad news."

A car approached and slowed down. A tall striking man appeared and looked right at Amy.

Amy moved fast and ran down to greet her husband as she flung her arms around him.

After a few minutes they pulled appart and Amy led her husband to me.

"Alpha, this is my husband and Jayla's father Bryan."

I stood and looked at him, he was well built and could instantly tell he was a warrior just like Amy.

Bryan bowed. "Alpha."

He stood up straight and held out his hand for me to shake. I extended my hand and greeted him. Just then Femi rushed beside me and bowed.

"Alpha, sorry i'm late."

He turned to Bryan and smiled.

"Welcome to Wolf Mountain Pack." he extended his hand and shook Bryans.

We all walked into the house and made our way to the study. We all sat down and I waited for Bryan to speak.

All the while Amy's hand never left her husband's.

"Alpha, Sorry for the intrusion, I just wanted to make sure my mate and daughter were safe."

"They are warrior Bryan. Is the any news from your pack concerning the situation?"

"Yes there is." he paused.

"I was called into Alpha Jace's office and questioned on Jayla's where abouts. I told him I didn't know. But he knows Amy has left with Jayla. I didn't tell him anything but I did tell him what he did was wrong. Unfotunately he didn't want to listen. He has given Amy 24 hours to return to the pack otherwise she will be tried for treason against the pack for harbouring a pack member attacking his Luna."

I noticed Bryan squeezing Amy's hand. He lowered his head then spoke again.

"Alpha, I know what Jayla did was wrong. but her wolf was only protecting her pup, any mother would do that. Alpha would it be possible for us to stay here? I understand if you refuse, I mean it would probably bring some trouble to you but we can't be away from our daughter. Pack members are already talking behind our backs."
