The Warrior

Chapter 5

The next morning I was up and ready to begin my new life. No more tears, no more sorrow and no more moping around for that mutt. "Jakey come on." I barged into his room and he was tying his shoe laces.

"Someone is ebullient this morning." He beamed at me. "I missed the bubbly prankster Tae." He hugged me before throwing me over his shoulder.

"Jake, put me down you bogus." I hit his butt.

"Oh no you did not." He ran downstairs and I tightened my grip around his waist. He grabbed my keys on the way and as soon as we were outside he put me down giving me the keys. Our drive to the pack house was filled with laughter and jokes. I really missed this, I missed my old me and I will not let Axel get to me. It was still dark, although early birds get the worm or however it goes, although in this case early wolves get the best pray. We saw a couple of guys standing around when we were close enough as I killed the engine they were all staring at us.

"Hey guys." Jake and I greeted simultaneously.

"Twins." Some of them said, shaking their heads.

"What's with the girl?" A big buff guy asked.

"She'll be part of the warriors according to the Alpha." The lead warrior I presume, informed them.

"But she's a girl," well no s**t, Sherlock "and girls are weak, so she's no exception." Another guy insisted, I huffed damn, sexists.

"Try me." I said, irritated.

"Guys don't antagonize her." Jake warned them.

"Please, a pup can take her down easily." The same brawny guy said and I glared at him.

"Like I said, try me." I hissed, aggravated now.

"Okay let's see what you have." The lead warrior pointed out. "You come fight her." He called the burly dude. When we got in fight stance the guy attacked me first. No one has seen my wolf only my family hence, only my brothers and my father have trained me. Therefore, I effortlessly pinned him down without letting him any space to topple me until he submitted. I got off of him and glared at everyone else.

"Anyone else?" I scoffed.

"Okay now everyone knows that she's not weak." The lead warrior said. "My name is Diesel as you can see I'm the head warrior. Welcome guys, now let's begin training." He ordered.

It has been two months since I began training with the warriors it has been amazing. The bad thing is that right now the Alpha and the Luna organized a meeting with the whole pack stating they have great news. I sat in between Jake and Diesel awaiting the damn dreadful meeting I was hopeful I didn't have to attend. "Hello everyone, I'm glad you all are here, we have amazing news we have to share with all of you." The Alpha began. "We are excited to announce that your Luna, Bethany, is two months pregnant." He finished as he locked his gaze with mine. I felt a pang in my heart as those words kept replaying in my mind. I tried to hold back the tears that were causing my eyes to become blurry. Everyone was cheering and congratulating the Alpha and Luna when he made his way to us. "Hello guys, how are you?" Axel asked, gazing at me and I simply ignored him.

"Congratulations, Alpha" Diesel smiled at Axel.

"Congrats, Alpha." Jake nodded at him.

"Are you going to say something, Tae?" I cringed as he called me by Tae, he had no right to do so anymore he lost it the night he rejected me.

"Yes, congratulations, Alpha. That's what you've always wanted now you are getting it." I tried to give him a genuine smile. I turned around and left before I lost control. It's done, I will never give him a chance he broke me completely now.

Four months have passed since Axel gave those amazing news to the whole pack. It has been six months since I began training with the warriors; I've become stronger and so has Jake which is amazing. No one gives me crap about being a girl as I have defeated every single one of them. What I hate is having to patrol the area it gets boring to the point that I begin bothering the Alpha with naughty thoughts about other male wolves. As I was doing it once again, something caught my sight as it moved swiftly around the land trying to go unnoticed. 'Rogue' I mind linked and began chasing the rogue till I caught up and tackled him to the floor. I held it down until there were the other warriors around to back me up. Diesel was by my side as soon as he could.

"Shift back." He ordered and the rogue obliged. It was a pup who was so skinny that all his bones were visible. I gasped and headed near a tree to shift back. I rushed back to the pup and handed him some shorts. He looked so broken and dejected.

"What are you doing here, pup?" Jadiel sneered.

"I escaped from my pack because they treated me as a slave and they would beat me up when things wouldn't go how they wanted." Tears were gliding down his cheeks. I was going to get near him when Diesel pulled me back.

"Let's take you to talk to the Alpha. He'll tell us what to do with you." The rogue stood up with his legs shaking with fear and because he was weak. Axel decided to let him stay for some time before he had somewhere to go. We became close friends and the alpha didn't like that.

"Tae, Jake, let's go to the lake." Chase exclaimed. He had his arm over my shoulder as we made our way towards the lake and Axel was enraged nonetheless he couldn't do or say anything. What he didn't know was that Chase was gay, though we never planned to tell him. When we were sitting near the water we heard noises around us. Jake and I got in an attack stance as our senses were in full alert as well as warning the warriors around us. We were ambushed by a couple of rogues. We tried to hold them back, however, we were only three and Chase was not capable of fighting yet to protect someone else other than himself as he was still too thin and weak. When the rest of the warriors arrived and helped us dispose of the rest of the rogues, I wasn't able to find Chase until I found him lying on the floor bleeding out.

"Chase, please stay with me, don't you dare stop breathing." I tried to stop the cuts from bleeding but they were too deep and he being so weak did not help.

"Thank you, Tae, for everything. You showed me how to live to the fullest these past days." He whispered and I knew he was saying goodbye except that I didn't want to let him go. "I will always remember you and I will be taking care of you from up above." He was having a hard time breathing.

"No, Chase, stay with me come on." I sobbed.

"It's time, Tae, I love you." He said with his last breath.

"Love you too." I murmured, and stood there holding his hand. Axel growled when I said those words, however right now he was the last of my concerns. We buried him at the pack's cemetery, although Axel opposed to the idea. That day I lost an awesome friend and an awesome wolf.

*Six Months Later*

We have been living in the pack's house in order to be around in case anything happened. Chase's death was hard to overcome, yet I kept doing what I did best and I miss him every day. The training became intense every single day after the rogue attack. Jake and I only had Sunday's off, which was fine by us. I've stayed away from the Alpha and Luna as much as possible nonetheless Axel has tried to speak to me any chance he has which irks me or he would be demonstrating his affection to his mate and child. I honestly had to contain myself not to show my anger and uncomfortableness as Jake or Jadiel have been always around. "Rogues!" Someone yelled, causing me to jerk up from my bed and out the door; as soon as I was outside I noticed we were surrounded by numerous of rogues. We began fighting and disposing of them instantly. With my peripheral vision I noticed a rogue that had a young boy around the age of five trapped and I swiftly stepped in front of the boy. I noticed that the rogue was part of the rogues that had attacked us the day Chase died and had gotten away. The rogue lunged at me and I snapped his neck instantly when I turned around to grab the boy to carry him to a safe place; another rogue took advantage of my distraction and attacked me. He sunk his teeth on my left flank, causing pain to erupt throughout my body with every maneuver I tried to release myself with his teeth tightened his grip. Suddenly I wasn't able to feel the rogue's teeth anymore though black speckles began to appear and then all I saw was pitch-black. Fantastic I lost consciousness.

*JAKE*

I was fighting a rogue when I felt an unbearable pain and I knew that it did not belong to me when I searched for Tae I noticed she was on the ground trying to throw off the rogue from on top of her. Galloping towards her I noticed a young boy hiding behind her, I instantly knew she was trying to protect him, although before I reached her the Alpha was beside her and he had killed the rouge immaculately. She shifted back into human form her body was bloody all over my wolf began whimpering and I shifted back to take her to the pack's doctor while tears were gushing out. We had vanquished all the rogues, on the other hand I didn't want to lose my sister, my half, my partner in crime I couldn't lose her as I was going to carry her the Alpha ordered me to let him do it. On our way I was able to listen to Tae's faint heart beat and I urged Axel to be faster. When we arrived at the pack's clinic the doctor instructed us to stay outside while he attended her, Axel looked desolated like never before he was showing too much affection for a simple warrior or pack member. The doctor took forever to come back out and I was nervous. When he finally came back out from Tae's room we all rushed to question him about her health by now our parents, Jadiel, Diesel, and Nic were there.

"How is she, Dr.?" My father inquired perturbed.

"She's stable now." Thank the goddess. "Though she lost a lot of blood and has 3 broken ribs I dared to say that she's extremely lucky to be alive." I felt as if I had been suffocated. "One of the ribs could have punctured a lung or her heart. It will take some time before she wakes up; her wolf and her are very weak right now and they need to recover from their injuries." The doctor concluded.

"Can I see her?" Axel and I asked simultaneously.

"One at a time." The doctor answered.

"I'll go in first." Axel commanded, leaving no chance for debate as I swallowed a growl that was threatening to escape my mouth. He stayed in there over 30 minutes, too long for my comfort.

*TAE*

I felt someone hold my hand as I tried to open my eyes, I couldn't I was able to feel minuscule tingles on my hand, they were barely there, although when I tried to yank my hand away I couldn't. What's going on with me, how come I can't move or open my eyes?

"I'm sorry Tae." I heard someone say. That voice I've heard it before, but wh-Axel. What is he doing has he gone insane? "I should have always been there to protect you, instead I let you go by rejecting you. I honestly don't know why I did it, still it's for our own good you were not levelheaded or responsible, nonetheless now it's too late." f*****g s**t now he says this after so long he should have said that before he could have saved me all the heart and head ache. "I love you and I always will still this is for our own good."  Well then leave me alone, you mutt, go back to your Luna and child. 'Ethan is hurting.' Ava, my wolf whimpered. 'I'm sorry for him, still his human is only hurting us, how can he say he loves us and then he goes with that witch of a mate.' 'We are his mate not her.' Ava hissed. 'No we are not he rejected us then he marked and mated with Bethany that resulted in a child don't you remember.' Ava whimpered and howled in pain so I just ignored her. "Get well soon Tae." Tsss don't call me like that, you mutt and with that he left. A couple minutes later I heard a door ugh he needs to stay away from me.

"Tae." It was Jake. "Come on wake up." I heard him sob no brother don't cry, I can't take your pain away right now. "I'm sorry I didn't get there in time." Jakey it's not your fault you had to protect yourself I was just trying to protect the little boy. I don't blame you at all, you can't always be there. "Please open your eyes, I need to see your beautiful blue eyes and hear your bubbly voice." I'm trying Jake yet, I can't. He stayed there with me all day and night.

Three days have passed and I was feeling a lot stronger my wolf had regained her vitality. Beep. Beep. Beep. Holy Jesus Christ can't they get that machine to be quiet. I opened my eyes slowly and the bright light didn't let me causing me to groan. "Tae." I heard various voices exclaim and I responded with a groan. When I finally open my eyes, I saw my mother, father, Adanely, Jake and Nicky there.

"Call the doctor." My mother said and Jake left the room.

"Princess are you okay?" My father asked with his voice laced with concern.

"Yes." I was able to say although my voice sounded hoarse.

"Goddess, Tae, finally you had us all worried." Nicole collapsed on top of me and I grunted not expecting it.

"Nic you are hurting her." Adanely said and Nic let go of me then I heard the door being open.

"Good morning Taelyn." I cringed at the doctor as he called me by my complete name. "Let's examine you to see if you can be released today." I smiled at the thought of being released. "I need everyone to leave the room." Everyone grumbled. "Fine, one of you can stay." As soon as he said that Jake was by my side.

"I'll stay." My mom and dad narrowed their eyes at him causing me to chuckle.

"Alright, we'll be waiting outside." My father said and my mom huffed as they left the room. After the doctor examined my sides and checked to see if my ribs had healed he released me. Nic and Adanely went home to get me some clothes as I was in a hospital gown. I was grateful to be leaving the hospital, though I had to go back to the pack house.

*A Year Later*

I'll be turning 20 this year and I'm not excited at all. After the incident, I still have the scar on my side of that rogue's teeth I went back to training a day after I got released. My mother was not too keen however after I explained what had happened whilst my father was proud of me for protecting the pup as he said and I quote 'You would make a great Luna'. Yea tell that to my jerk of a mate who rejected me for being immature and irresponsible. Each day of training I became stronger and quicker. Jacob and I became the best fighter's to the point that we could have taken the head warriors place, nevertheless we did not want to deal with the Alpha. Diesel, the head warrior, and I got closer.

"Hey baby girl." Diesel said as he winked at me.

"Hey Diz." I jumped on his back. "Where are you going?" I poked his sides.

"To the lake want to come?" He asked nudging my arm.

"Boring." I teased him, causing him to tackle me to the ground and began tickling me.

"Get off her." Someone growled with the power that it radiated, we jerked up instantly and I noticed it was Axel. Damn, what has his panties in a twist? "I don't want you touching her." He roared. What the f**k? I shook my head and faced Diesel.

"Sorry Diz, maybe next time my mood was just murdered." I explained before walking away causing Axel growled again. Well someone is grouchy today I inwardly laughed.

"Taelyn." Axel roared.

"Yes, Alpha?" I bowed my head.

"I need to talk to you in private." He said. I don't want to talk to you.

"Alright, I'll be leaving." Diesel said, you traitor. As soon as Diesel left Axel took a step towards me and I took a step backwards.

"Don't back away." He commanded, as he took a step forward again and I wasn't able to move as he had decreed. Damn, you Alpha.

"How have you been?" He questioned me.

"Splendid, it feels fantastic to be training again, it keeps me busy." I said.

"You know what I mean." He said, raging. What's with his anger issues?

"Well, Alpha, I don't know what you want to know." I tried to dismiss the question.

"About our mate subject." He muttered, as he looked away although before he turned away I was able to see regret in his eyes.

"What mate subject? I don't have a mate." I said.

"I'm your mate Tae." He growled.

"Why don't you tell that to my brothers and my father?" I raised an eyebrow smugly expectant in his response nonetheless he stayed quiet so I continued speaking. "That's what I thought, as for me it's like you are not and you never were because I know I deserve better than you. I deserve someone that loves me not anyone else. Someone that isn't caught in between his true mate and a girl he says he loves. Someone who can give me his all without limitations." I explained as calmly as a silent night.

"You are mine." He roared.

"No I'm not. You gave up that right a long time ago when you rejected me even if you say I was immature and irresponsible now you have someone whom, according to you is more levelheaded." This lout has to be freaking kidding me.

"How did you know?" He seemed astound.

"I heard you that day I was hurt. You could have said that, you know, instead of using dumb excuses as I was Jadiel's sister, I do know that you love Bethany and not me, Alpha." I said nettled by his attitude.

"No, Tae, I do l-" I cut him off before he could tell another lie.

"Save it. Go back to your mate and child they need you, I don't." He growled. "Anyways, it was fun and all talking to you, Alpha, now I have to go." I stated coldly. I side stepped him and left.
