Chapter 4

I wake to Maggy yelling through the phone for the Council and the coven to come immediately, she turns and notices I am finally up and as I go to get up to ask what is wrong I notice I am chained up with double chains on each part of my body, even my neck is chained. I open my mouth to say something and she silences me, “You have been hexed but I was not strong enough to figure out which hex or whom put it on you.” I look down at my hands and notice my fingers are nothing like they are usually look like, they are longer, and my nails are sharp and turning black. Suddenly, I hear a scream, then it is muffled, and I feel a hand over my mouth. The scream came from me. Confusion sweeps over me, “What is wrong with me, what is this?” “You don’t know what hybrid you are do you?” “No, my father and I have never been able to figure it out. What AM I?” “You are a very rare hybrid, one thought only to be a legend, I had never met anyone before you.” “WHAT AM I?!” “You are part vampire, part witch, and part dragon.” “You mean to tell me that I am not a hybrid, but a trybrid?” “Yes, and it would explain why you have the ability to eat human food.”     All I heard was a faint screaming as the world went black yet again and I went into a very deep dreamlike state. My mother was there, Morticia Bryant. Her sleek dyed black hair was unforgettable as was the stench of lilacs that followed her every move, her real name as my father had told me when I was 12 was Elizabeth Mary Dylan. He never told me why she changed her name, but my guess was as good as none since she loved death and everything ever to do with it. She had these books about a woman named Morticia McBeth and she was supposedly the best serial killer in the business.     As I followed my mother into the garden she vanished behind a Weeping Willow, I tried to follow but the branches just shoved me aside until I used my strength and tore them apart. Behind the branches was a doorway, more of a hole made into the side of the tree only big enough for a medium sized dog to fit through. As I got closer to the door I started to see the door become larger, at first I thought I was shrinking but the door was just growing until it looked like it was just swallowing up the whole tree. I entered the door eager with questions for my mother and darted inside the hole in the tree.     As soon as I entered the tree I immediately regretted my decision, there were traps left and right. I found out the hard way as an arrow shot and hit me straight in my thing right when I passed the threshold. Looking around I saw all the holes in the wall where the arrows would shoot out at me, I was lucky I stopped once the first arrow hit or the next arrow would have hit me in my temple. Even though I am immortal it still hurts like a b***h anytime any damage is done, especially if the damage was dealt with a wooden item like the arrows. The only spot to kill a Vampire is directly in the heart with anything sharp and made of wood, however I am not sure if the same thing goes in my case. I will have to ask my mother the minute I can figure out these traps and catch up with her, but when I do it will not be a pleasant meet up. I have hated her ever since I found out I was cursed. Being a witch alone would have been amazing, but the b***h just had to go and curse my ass. She didn't just curse me with immortality and the thirst for human blood, but she had to curse me to be a goddamned Dragon? What the hell is wrong with her, she could have made me into something that actually exists in the real world. Of course she had to make me into the most unique and dangerous thing since were-vamps became a thing. Like she couldn't have turned me into one of them...     As I am looking at the walls spotting the patterns and how I need to proceed, I look at floor which is also covered in holes every other step with plating that once stepped on activates the next available trap. This was not going to be easy and very painful. I kicked up my vamp speed and used my agility to try to run across the walls instead of using the floor.     Wrong idea to have... I immediately fell flat on the ground right on a plate and a spear stabbed me in the forearm, I screamed from the sudden pain as it had been coated in poison. Thankfully poison has no effect on me and I was easily able to break the spear right next to the ground it shot out from. I pulled the spear completely out of my arm and stood up not remembering about the arrows and stepped on a second plate. The damned thing hit me directly in the throat and I immediately coughed up blood. The spear I could pull out without any worry as it was not made with any wood, it was completely metal. However, the arrows had wood and I did not want to risk having to dig out splinters of my body so I left them in.     The next series of steps I kept an eye on the floor and the wall so I could keep track of where to dodge to. The spears were the easy part as the wholes were bigger and easier to move across. I finally came to the conclusion that jumping on the spear holes and missing the plates all together was the best vantage point, until I got halfway across the room where all the spears should have been were just plates for arrows and a fun new little trap. I stopped as soon as I saw the floor had changed and looked around for new holes in the ceiling and in the wall, which was a very great idea. If I had not have looked around and just kept moving at the same pace I would have been cut in half and had something poured out over the top of my head as well as the arrows to deal with.     I immediately sat down to contemplate my next move, I need to proceed very carefully from here on out. I started thinking of different strategies and then remembered I could break the very ends of the arrows in my neck and thigh and use them to see which plates did what. If I could avoid the ones that would cut me in half I would be able to survive, even vampires can't survive being cute in half straight down from head to toe.
