Colden

Colden looked at Dani he loved her,he always has,even more now since hes had her. That night in the woods was the greatest of his life he closes his eyes he could still feel her skin under his hands. Now more than ever he wanted to feel her under him again, As they walked down the beach he stroked his fingers down her arm.

"Dani" He looked down at her, cupping her face in his hands " I Love you Dagney". 

"Colden I, i dont know who i am on my own, I wouldnt know who i would be with someone else, right now i just need to find myself and what the gods have planned for me." 

"I understand and when you are ready for that part of your life im here waiting for you."

Colden meant it he would wait for her, They turned and made their way back to the village talking along the way. After Colden left Dagney at her fathers home he didn't want to stay at the party anymore so he walked to his childhood home. Sitting at the fire he thought of the events over the week and he knew he couldnt lose Dagney not again. He decided he would talk to Rangvaldr about having her hand when she was ready.

The morning light shown threw the window of the small room Colden opened his eyes to the sound of his father talking to someone. He knew the voice of his uncle Keld Earl of Hedeby, What was going on. Walking in to the room where his father and uncle where Colden grew concerned by the look on his fathers face. Colden looked at the men, first his father then Keld, His uncle was a big man built like a mountin with long brown hair and square jaw and green eyes.

"Whats going on?" Colden asked the men,

"Your Uncle is having troubles with another earl and he needs to see King Rangvaldr, It seems there may be a battle for his Earlship and keld wants us to fight with him for Hedeby"

"A battle over Hedeby, I'll stand with you Uncle Hedeby is my home now i will defend it."

"Good nephew, I'll need you and now i must go see King Rangvaldr with the spring raids coming i dont want to leave my people unprotected i want to deal with this matter before we leave."

"I'll come with you to see him." 

The three men walked out the door to Rangvaldrs home, Approching the door to the great room Colden could see Rangvalr and Thrya sitting by the fire eatting their morning meal, Dagney was no where in sight prehaps she was still asleep Colden thought to himself. As the three men approched the couple they turned their attention to Keld.

"Earrl Keld " Rangvaldr spoke first Before Thrya 

"Earrl Keld what a suprise." Thrya addressed Keld

"Good morning my queen, i apologize to disturb your morning meal." Keld bowwed to her.

"No inturuption Earl Keld, You are most welcome to join us.." Rangvaldr looked at him then to colden and his father," You too Gustav and Colden join us."

The men sat down, before the slaves could bring the food to them Keld began. Colden watched and listened as his Uncle and King Rangvaldr spoke.

"My King i come to you with a problem, I would like to have this over with before the spring raids."

"What iis the problem?"

"Another Earl is trying to lay claim to Hedeby and wants war over the village, Ive come to ask for your support."

"Which Earl?"

"Earl Sigrun of Roskilde"

Rangvaldr Knew of Earl Sigrun, He did no care for the man he thought the man to be a cheat and a liar. Sigrun got his earlship by killing or rather taking credit for the death of his father the Earl before him. Rangvaldr looked to his wife Thrya, she gave him a knowing nodd of her head. Rangvaldr looked to Keld."I will go to war with you."

Keld released a breath "Thank you my King. I.." He was about to say more when Dagney walked into the room and his voice droped and all he could do was stare at her. Coldens blood went cold at the way his uncle was looking at Dani his Dani, Before Colden could say something Rangvaldr spoke.

"Earl Keld, This is my daughter Dagney she has finally been returned to us with the help of your nephew Colden, you should be proud of your smith he was a brave warrior."

"It is a pleasure to finally meet you Princess Dagney, Ive heard so much about you and your journey home. You are very Brave and may i say Beautiful."

"thank you Earl Keld." Dagney blushed which sent a surge of anger in Colden. Did she like the attention she was getting from his uncle? Colden didnt hear the rest of the conversation he lifted to his feet before think." King Rangvaldr i woul like to speak with you in private if i may?" Rangvaldr looked at him and stood and gesturedd tword the door."Walk with me." as they reached the outside Colden turned to him.

"I come to ask for Dagneys hand my king."

"Have you discussed this with my daughter?"

"No sir, i felt it would be best to talk to you first."

"Colden my boy, I think the world of you. You are the reason i have my daughter back, you fought beside me to resuce her. But i am sorry but i can Not allow you to marry my daughter."

"Why not, Have i not proven myself worthy of her?"

"I know what happened between you and my Dughter in england the night before we sailed home." Colden froze. "My daughter was in vulnerable state,you took advantage of that and most of all you did not have my premission to lay with my daughter."

"My King i am sorry i.." Rangvaldr cut him off 

"I understand how you feel for my daughter, and how she feels for you i have already spoken to her and she gave me her reason for what had happened between the two of you. but you need to understand it may be okay to lay with other women in the villages, But dagney is not like these women, She is the daughter of a king and will be treated as such. i want my daghter to marry someone who can provide for her the way i see fit. You are not that man Colden."

"I see but what if Dagney wants to be with me?"

"She does not have a choice as my daughter she will marry who i choose for her."

Rangvaldr held his hand up to stop him from saying anymore. "This is done, I have more important matters to discuss with your Uncle." He said as he walked away leaving Colden in the street.
