Chapter Four

I peeped around the door to my apartment as I looked around to see if anyone would be still in the exact spot we left them. I sighed in relief to see that my apartment had no one in it despite seeing broken picture frames, chairs, and more everywhere. I stepped inside the apartment as Jade followed behind me. "See? There's no one here. I won't die." I said as I turned towards the strong girl who rolled her eyes at the sound of my voice. "I'll be so happy when you stop trying to convince me that they won't kill you. I know what I'm talking about." She said as she leaned against the wall with her arms crossed. Shaking my head, I huffed. I knew she would always be here but that didn't mean I couldn't attempt to get away from her. She impatiently tapped her foot as she looked around the apartment waiting on me to make my next move. I put one of my hands in my pocket to be sure my car keys were still there and mentally sighed in relief when I felt them. As soon as Jade turned her head towards the bedroom, I zoomed passed her and towards the front door. I ran down the hall and occasionally looked back to be sure she wasn't following me. I laughed loudly in excitement of her not chasing me. As soon as I turned around, I stopped as the girl stared at me. "Harry? I never in a million years thought I'd have this problem out of you. You've always been so quiet but last night was ridiculous. There was so much noise going on from your apartment! What kind of party was that?" She asked. Sighing, I shot her a soft smile. "I'm sorry, Vanessa. It started out as a small kickback but it turned out bigger than expected. There were a few guys who got into a small altercation. I'm sorry and it won't happen again." Most girls on campus loved me for my smile. I remembered during my freshman year that all of the ladies would whisper and talk about how I had one of the most beautiful smiles that they loved quite a lot. It didn't help with e being what they considered a private guy. By my sophomore year of college, I was considered one of the most attractive guys on the campus with even some referring to me as one of the popular guys. It didn't hep with me being friends with the most popular guy on campus - David. I just didn't care about popularity. Vanessa blushed before looking down at her feet. "It's okay. Just try not to be so loud next time?" "I will remember that. I have somewhere to go so if you'll excuse me." "Harry! There you are!" I heard a familiar voice say. I sighed and closed my eyes only to open them to see Vanessa staring at me in confusion. "Jade." I said through gritted teeth. "Jade?" Vanessa asked as she looked at the woman who stood behind me. "Where are you going, baby?" She said adding emphasis on the pet name. To Vanessa, it sounded like it was filled with love but I could hear the venom in the word and the sinister look on her face didn't make it better/ "You know." I said as I looked at the beautiful yet dead girl. "I had no idea you were in a relationship." Vanessa mumbled to herself as she looked at the both of us. Jade wrapped her cold arm around my shoulder before pulling me into her chest causing me to groan in pain as she squeezed me tightly. "You cannot leave without telling me goodbye." "Baby, I was only going to the car to grab something. You know I'd never leave you without saying goodbye." "You're a beautiful couple." Vanessa said with a soft smile on her face. "You compliment one another really well." "Thank you." Jade and I said at the same time. "Shall we get going?" Jade asked. "You can go ahead and go to the apartment. I'll grab what I need out of the car and be back up." "I can get it." Jade said. "I'll be quicker." Shaking my head, I cracked my knuckles as I watched her in anger. "I'll do it, baby." "How cute!" Vanessa said. Faking a laugh, I looked at Vanessa. "She does this a lot. She has the nerve to say she will get there quicker. What is she gonna do? Teleport?" "I can." Jade said. Vanessa laughed. "He's right. Go rest in the apartment and he'll be right back for you." "See?" I said. "I'll be back in less that two minutes." Jade stared at me with hatred before putting. Smile on her face. She nodded her head me slowly turned around and headed towards my apartment which made me sigh in relief. Vanessa had no clue how she had just saved me and I'd be sure to thank her sincerely once all of this blew over. "She's beautiful." Vanessa said as she looked up at me. Turning towards Jade who walked down the hallway, I sighed. "She is." Bidding my farewell to Vanessa, I immediately took off. I walked down the stairs and smiled at the sight of the front door of the apartment complex. I opened the doors and ran straight towards my black Range Rover that was parked in the same spot I had left it. "Yes!" I mumbled to myself as I ran closer to the truck. Suddenly, the door to the passengers side opened causing me to stop. My mouth dropped open at the sight of Jade stepping out of the car with a smirk on her face. "Ready to go, asswipe?" "When were you going to tell me that you could teleport?" I hissed asI pushed the door to the library open. I held it open as Jade walked passed me. "Where's the fun in that?" "We aren't here to have fun together, corpse." I whispered to her angrily. Grabbing her arm, I turned her towards me as she stared up at me. "I'm agreeing to helping you so you can leave me the hell alone. After this, we are done. There will be no ties to us. Is there anything else you're able to do? If so, tell me now." "Shh!" The librarian shushed. Jade turned towards her with a disgusting look on her face. Grabbing Jade by her chin, I turned her back towards me. "Is there anything else I need to know?" I asked. "No." "Are you sure?" "Yes." "Shh!" "Can't you see we're having a deep discussion right now? There's only two other people in here besides us three and one is sleep while the other is sitting in the corner sending text messages! Worry about them and not what we have going on over here." Jade exclaimed to the librarian. I faced palmed a the librarian stared at Jade with wide eyes. Jade rolled her eyes and turned back towards me as I shook my head at her. "Can we please start now?" She asked. Nodding, I pointed towards one of the tables. Jade pulled out the chair and sat in it as I sat my laptop on the table and slid it towards her. I sat down as she leaned up and started typing quickly on the keyboard of the laptop. I rated at her as she leaned forward and beg scanning the screen. "Find anything?" "Of course not." She whispered. "It's all saying the same exact thing about my murder. It's a mystery and the killer has never been discovered." "Are you sure there was no one else around?" I asked. Jade nodded her head. "I was laving wok and there was no one around. There was never anyone around at the time of night. I just remember walking behind the store and the gunshots sounded and i was hit." "Where was your car?" I asked. "I needed a new motor so I was working longer hours to get it fixed." "Why did you go behind a*****e?" "Why did you?" "This is about you, corpse." "Well asswipe, it was the closest way to get to my home." She replied. Sitting back, I groaned. "There weren't any cameras around?" "There was! The store has cameras all around it which leads me to wonder why no one has any footage of what happened. There's just no way that someone would shoot me and it didn't get caught on camera!" She whispered back. "Do you think it could have been someone from the store who killed you? Maybe they were waiting for you and shut the cameras off? Or maybe they deleted the footage?" Jade shrugged. "I don't know why they'd try to kill me. I knew the owner of the store and the cashiers since I'd stop there often. I can't imagine them pulling the trigger." Closing my laptop, I sat back and groaned in frustration while pinching the bridge of my nose. We had just started on uncovering the truth and I knew it would be nothing easy. We had no idea what to do or where to start. There were no clues that helped us out or anything. I looked at Jade who laid her head on the table obviously feeling the same way I felt regarding the situation. "Don't worry, corpse. We'll figure this out." I said. "I'll do anything to get you away from me." "Thanks asswipe." She mumbled. I attempted to say something back but my attention was now on the familiar face that entered the library. I rubbed my hands through my air before pulling it in frustration as Jade looked up at me in confusion yet I could see the amusement in her eyes. I looked at the person who had just enter red the library stared at Jade and I before he stopped at our table. "Harry?" "David."
