Chapter Eighteen

Sampsons POV

There would be no mistaking it this time around. Edward and Angela Gray would die by my hands. Caroline and Edison had just come back with some of our warriors. Still no sign of my mate, I knew they would take her away. I should have marked her the night we mated. If I had then I would at least be able to feel her. I'd feel if she were still...no I couldn't think like that. The Gray's hadn't kept her alive this long for them to just kill her now. If they wanted her dead they would have done it in front of me.

I sat in front of Skye's grave, lost. "How could I have failed another mate?" I asked her headstone. I knew I wouldn't get a response. It didn't matter anyways, I had failed both of my mates. I sat here wallowing in my self pity. I didn't even hear Omar calling my name. The only way I broke out of my state was when I was hit upside the head. I let out a loud growl and he tried to fight off his submission but eventually gave in.

Omar bowed his neck, showing me his neck. "What the f**k was that for?" I asked him. "You need to get over yourself" Omar said. I glared at him as he crossed his arms over his chest. "What did you just say?" I asked him. "I said you need to get over yourself. Instead of sitting here staring at Skye's grave. Get up and do something" Omar said. I just glared at him still in silence. He was right though, I wasn't helping Dessa just sitting here.

I sighed and dropped my head. "I'm sorry" I said shaking my head. Omar pulled me into a hug and patted my back. "I know it's hard man. We'll get her back. Your young Luna is a spit fire. I know she won't go down without a fight" He said. I couldn't help but smirk at that. She really was, I knew she would fight like hell. "Let's go check in with Caroline and Edison to see what we can do" Omar said.

We made our way inside the pack house. We found Caroline inside her office on the third floor. "How did the search go?" I asked. "Still nothing, but Eva is looking into every detail of their finance records to see if we can find something" Edison said. I nodded my head as my phone vibrated in my pocket. I looked to see a text message from an unknown number. Soon was all the message said. I showed it to my friends "Caroline can you try tracing this number. See what we can find out?" I asked her.

She jumped onto her computer and started working her magic. Unfortunately it was from a burner cell so we couldn't trace it to a specific person. However she was able to find out where it was purchased. "Have I told you how sexy you are when you work" Edison said with a mischievous smirk to his mate. Caroline just rolled her eyes but she had a shy smile as well.

Caroline and Edison left to go to the store where the cell had been purchased. "Go get some sleep man" Omar said. "Let me know when they get back" I said and he gave a nod of his head. I went to my room and sprawled out on the bed. I quickly moved to one side though, I would have to get used to having someone else in bed with me. Exactly! She will be in our bed again Artemis said. Yes she will I said before letting sleep take me.

I had a dream of Skye and Odessa. It was weird to see the two of them together. I didn't speak to either of them. Just sat in the distance watching them talk. I got up and went over to them, neither seeming to know I was there. I reached them both, never once did they look at me. I placed a hand on Skye's head, running my fingers through her hair. She didn't flinch or even acknowledge that I was touching her. I placed my hand on Odessa's head. Instead of ignoring me like the rest of the time her eye turned to mine.

Her eyes were different, they were the same blue color. However just somehow they were different. I like was looking at someone different. Odessa was about to say something when I was woken up from my dream by a knock on my door. I shot up from bed and sighed wiping my eyes. I padded over to my door to see Omar. "They're back" He said before walking away.

I followed my Beta to Caroline's office again. When I got in there everyone was waiting. "Have a nice nap?" Eva asked as I took a seat. "I guess you could say that" I said. She gave a little smile before Caroline spoke. "So we used a little intimidation to do it but we saw the security footage of the store starting with when Odessa was taken" She said.

"Theo was the one who bought the phone" Edison said. "Really?" I asked surprised. "Yep so how knows what the 'soon' meant" Edison added. If it had been Angela or Edward who had sent the text it probably would have meant they were going to attack or hurt Odessa. With Theo though, no one could tell. Theo was actually a distant cousin of mine. One of our great great grandparents had been siblings by marriage. We had never really talked much because our families were never really close.

"Have you found anything Eva?" I asked. She pulled out her files that she had and we all looked them over. "Well there's nothing from Edward or Angela. Looks like after they attacked us they went ghost. All of their assets became ours. Theo doesn't have anything really either. Looks like he spent just as much as his superiors when they tried to attack us the first time" She explained.

"What about their new Gamma?" Edison asked. "Well he was turned a few years ago it seems" Eva said. She went over everything he owned from his mortal life until now. "What about this?" I asked looking at a list of bank records. I pointed to a withdrawal of about fifteen thousand dollars. "Looks like that was from his inheritance when his parents died" Omar said. "Can you guys check on any recent houses sold in a thirty mile radius of where Theo bought the phone?" I asked. They all nodded their heads and went their separate ways. I'll find you Odessa. I promise I thought to myself before going to my office to do research of my own.
