Primrose

Chapter 8

On the next day, Diana got the details of where to find Primrose, knowing her as Rose. She went with Rose and they were putting on shades. But as they were heading there, Primrose left the bar and went back home.

“Um we are looking for Rose.” Diana told one maid.

“Miss Rose just left. She isn’t feeling so well, you can come back tomorrow.” She said and walked away from them.

“She is lucky today. Let’s go sis.” Diana said and they walked out. As they drove for shopping Rose asked, “You are not going to harm that girl, are you?”  

“Not physically of course.” Diana replied. Rose looked at her and sighed, “hey sis you got to be careful, I don’t want you to be a bad person.” She said.

“Worry out sis.” Diana said.

At night, Jack and Tom went to the bar. Jack’s eyes were all around searching for Primrose but didn’t find her.

“I have never been this confused before.” Jack confessed.

“Tell me the truth, what do you feel deeply inside your heart?” Tom asked.

“I don’t know, but frankly speaking I just want to see Rose right now.” Jack said.

“You love that girl.” Tom said.

“I wish she came earlier in my life.” Jack said.

They later on left and went to their homes. On the next day, Primrose went in one park around the town and was just sitting around and thinking things through. Jack appeared and gave her an ice cream. She took it.

“I was told you are here.” Jack sat next to her.

“Why would you go looking for me?” Primrose asked but Jack just looked at her and didn’t reply a thing.

“Ok what are you doing here?” Primrose asked.

“Aren’t you happy to see me?” Jack asked.

“Jack I missed you.” She sadly confessed and hugged him.

“I miss you more.” He said.

“Tomorrow is my birthday.” She said as tears gathered in her eyes. She was missing her family. Jack wiped her tears as he held her close.

“Why would you cry then?” He asked. “Rose I know there are things you are not telling me.” He added.

“No I just miss how I used to celebrate birthdays with my parents.” She cried as he embraced her.

“They aren’t here anymore?” He asked.

“They are dead now.” She replied and he consoled her in his arms. For the first time, she felt comfortable to tell it to someone and she felt so much comfort when he consoled her. He talked to her calmly and embraced her until she was calm.

“Jack you are the last person I want to lose. Tomorrow I will wait for you here at 8 pm Jack, I want to hear the final thing you would say about us, I will respect it. I promise.” She said. Jack didn’t reply a thing but he just hugged her. Later on he took her home and went back to work since it was just evening. He then went back home at night. At midnight he called Primrose on the phone and sang for her a happy birthday song. Primrose couldn’t stop smiling, she never felt that special before in the eyes of any man. 

“Jack thank you very much, I love you.” She said happily.

“you are welcome baby girl.” Jack said.

“That voice though.” Primrose commented and laughed.

“Damn! You mean you don’t like it?” Jack asked.

“I love it.” Primrose said.

“You better.” Jack said. “Ok baby girl, goodnight.” He added.

“Goodnight Jack.” She said and Jack hung up.

On the next day, after he was done with work. He happily closed everything ready to go meet Primrose. He bought a neckless for her and so he was looking at it. He got out and as he walked to his car, he saw Diana standing next to his car.

“Honey,” she called.

“Diana?” He wasn’t expecting her. She walked towards him and hugged him.

“I have been waiting for you outside, I didn’t want to interrupt you. I knew you were working.” Diana said.

“Why are you dressed up like that? Where are you going?” Jack asked.

“On a date with you. You once told me that you would be taking me for dates but you are not, so I decided to remind you this way.” Diana said. “Let us go.” She added with a smile on her face. Jack sighed in disbelief, he looked at his watch and it was 7:05 pm.

“Ok but by 7:40 I will be leaving you.” He said. “Hurry.” He said and walked to his car. As he walked, the neckless was hanging wanting to fall from his trouser's pocket. Diana saw it.

“Something might fall.” She said and took it from his pocket. He quickly grabbed it from her.

“I remind you, be patient.” Jack said and got in the car. He had forgotten that he had to open the door for her. He then came out and went to open the door and she got in. They went to a certain restaurant and were having dinner. Diana was trying to remind Jack of their old sweet memories as they ate, Jack just smiled and spoke very little. He took his phone out wanting to pretend calling someone but nothing came in his mind. He put the phone on the table and continued talking to Diana.

“Excuse me, I will go to the restroom.” Jack said and walked to the rest room and forgot his phone on the table. “I got to tell Tom to call me by 7:40” he thought as he went in the restroom. Diana then saw a message on his phone. “I will be waiting for you Jack.” It was Primrose and was saved as Rose. She replied, “Am sorry I can’t come right now, I am with Diana.” 

“Oh, is that so?” Primrose replied sadly. “What about us?” She asked.

“Am sorry but I love Diana very much, so I think it is best you move on with your life.” Diana wrote and Primrose didn’t reply a thing, she just cried. Diana deleted the conversation.

When Jack arrived in the restroom he just noticed that he forgot his phone.

“Damn!” He said and quickly left the restroom. He went back to the table.

“Um… Diana as I said I needed to leave by 7:40 and I think it is time.” Jack said. “Thank you for this though.” He added as he stood.

“No Jack don’t go.” Diana stood and went to hold him. “I need you with me.” She passionately said.

“Am sorry.” Jack let her go but she pretended to be dizzy, she touched her head and tried to fall down but Jack held her. “Are you okay?” he asked.

“Jack stay with me please.” She pleaded pitifully as she touched his face.

“I will take you home.” Jack carried her on his arms and took her in his car and drove to her house.

When he arrived outside their mansion, he got out and opened the door for her. She got out and just stood.

“You can go now.” Jack said. She looked at him with a sad face. “Don’t give me that look.” He said.

“You won’t take me inside?” She asked. Jack looked at his watch and it was 8:00.

“Damn!” he muttered. He carried Diana in his arms and took her inside until to her bedroom without speaking a word. When he reached in, he put her down and said, “Goodnight Diana.” Diana got closer to him and began kissing him.

“Stay Jack.” Diana said.

“I can’t and please just…” Jack said but she interrupted him with a finger between his lips.

“Don’t speak a word.” Diana slowly dragged him to the bed. 

“Please stop this Diana.” Jack pleaded.

“Why would I do that? It won’t be our first time and who knows, I might give you that child that you never wanted to lose years ago.” Diana said and kissed him again.

“I should have known that you were pretending to be dizzy.” Jack said as she touched his face throughout. Jack closed his eyes.

“I know you miss me Jack.” Diana said. “Just swallow your pride.” She added. Jack chuckled and held her face, he kissed her for some few minutes.

“I missed you but not anymore and I won’t give you the pleasure that you think you can just get anytime you want. That was our last kiss, it is all I can give you now. I really loved you but not anymore Diana, it is officially over I can’t pretend anymore. Goodbye Diana.” Jack said and walked out of her room. Diana cried very painfully not believing that Jack proved to her that he didn’t want her anymore and he admitted that he didn’t love her anymore. When Jack arrived to his car, he bent on it as his eyes were shading some tears. He got in and began driving. “Am sorry Diana I just had to be honest and this is for the best.” He thought and then looked at the watch, it was 8:30. He drove towards the park but Primrose wasn’t there. He called her but she wasn’t available, she switched off her phone as she cried on her bed. Jack stayed there until around 11 pm and then left.

It was another day and as usual the people in the town were busy with work and other stuffs. Jack went to meet Primrose in the afternoon at the bar.

“I don’t want to see you.” Primrose said. “Please stop following me around.” She added.

“Am sorry Rose, I was late but I came and you already left.” Jack defended himself.

“What? So you changed your mind because you pity me, is that it?” Primrose questioned.

“I never said I wasn’t coming.” Jack claimed.

Primrose chuckled in disbelief. “I asked you if you are coming that night and you said that you won’t. You texted me that you won’t make it because you were with your woman, Diana.” She explained.

“I didn’t do that.” Jack wondered but he remembered that he forgot his phone when he went to the washroom and Diana might have used it. “Okay I understand now listen it wasn’t me texting.” He said.

“Then who was?” Primrose asked.

Jack sighed and said, “Diana was, I forgot my phone with her for a moment.” 

“So you were together after all.” Primrose said and suddenly Jack’s phone rang.

“Detective there is something important we have to discuss now.” Martinez said.

“Okay am on my way.” Jack said and hung up. Primrose heard Martinez words.

“Okay I will make it up to you, tonight beautiful.” He said and then winked at her. She rolled her eyes and when he left she smiled.

“But what could that important discussion be of?” she thought.

Gerry and Vero were taking some goods in one of Martin’s warehouse. The goods were for both Martin and Greg.

“Such a big warehouse.” Vero walked around.

“It is multi-purpose.” Gerry comfortably said.

“Oh seems so, I don’t want to ask what the other purposes are.” Vero said.

“We do everything that you do. We end people’s lives here and some we capture and keep in here if we find them useful, we torture them for a while.” Gerry said.

“So you mean you can’t kidnap people in other warehouses?” Vero asked as she kept on walking, Gerry followed.

“Probably.” He replied and they got in this strange room. Vero saw an old little watch on the floor, she silently picked it up and he didn’t notice. 

“Alright let’s get out of here.” Vero said after putting the watch in the pocket. They left.

Primrose was working while waiting for Jack but he didn’t show up until 9 pm and so she left and went back home. She was kind of sad but suddenly Jack came in through her room’s window.

“Huh? Jack?” She wondered and stood out of her bed.

“Yes baby am here.” Jack said as he walked towards her.

“Hey… Mr. detective you are committing a crime of trespassing.” Primrose said. He smiled and got closer and held her waist.

“And who is going to sue the detective, you?” He asked.

“You are lucky that you didn’t lie to me today.” Primrose said as she got closer.

“I never did and never will.” Jack said and took the neckless he had bought for her and put it on her.

“Wow…it is beautiful, I love it.” Primrose was excited. Jack smiled at her and then kissed the neckless on her neck.

“I love you, girl…I love you, I love you.” He said and then kissed her. She kissed him back but stopped and said, “Jack it’s enough, you can go now.” 

“I just started.” He said and continued kissing her. For the first time he slept with her.

Some minutes later, Rosario was going to primrose’s room and when she opened the door, she was surprised of what she saw. She shook her head and left. 

At around 4 am, Jack woke up and began looking at Primrose’s face. He kissed her throughout her face until she woke up.

“Oh my love.” She kissed him back. 

“Hey am sorry to wake you up this early.” He said while touching her face.

“It’s ok my love.” She said. 

“I love you so much Rose.” Jack said with a smile.

“I love you most.” Rose replied happily.

“You are the most precious thing to me right now Rose. I want you in my life for as long as I am alive baby girl, it is not only about what happened between us last night but I sincerely have decided to give my love to you and I love you so much. I can’t guarantee you a life of a queen but I will make you my princess. I will do whatever it takes, I will protect you and love you always. I will guarantee my loyalty to you and I will give you the assurance my love for the rest of my life.” Jack calmly said in a low voice as he looked at her in her eyes. Primrose’s eyes dropped some tears as Jack spoke, he wiped them off.

“The only thing I need from you is one.” Jack said.

“What is it?” Primrose asked.

“I need you to trust me, I need your complete trust babe, okay?” Jack said.

Primrose sadly nodded. “If it takes me to do just that and get everything you told me earlier, I will be so stupid not to trust you.” She said.

“I repeat baby girl in every situation I need you to trust me.” Jack said.

“I trust you my love and I will.” She said and Jack kissed her again. 

At around 6 am he got up from the bed and put on his clothes.

“Today am going to have a very long day.” Jack said as he put on his clothes.

“Why?” she asked.

“Um…it is just work issues my love but today I will take you for a date tonight.” He said with a smile.

“Awe.” She said with a smile.

“I will check on you.” He said and kissed her on her forehead. “Bye my love.” He added.

“See you tonight, love you.” She said.

“Love you too.” He said and walked out through the window. When he left she remembered what Martinez said to him the other day and what Jack said about work.

“Oh my God, I don’t know what him and his crew are up to. I just hope he will be safe.” She was just worried about him. She went to the dressing table and looked at herself and couldn’t help but think of Jack. She then went to take a shower and dressed to go to work. When she was ready, she walked out of her room. When she got in the sitting room, Rosario was sitting down as if she was waiting for her.

“Good morning, I see you are still here.” Primrose said. Rosario walked closer to her.

“Do you even bother to think of how David is or where he could be?” Rosario asked.

“He is in my mind 24/7.” Primrose replied.

“Really? And so what do you do about it?” Rosario asked.

“Why would I tell you?” Primrose asked.

“Truth is you are doing nothing about it!” Rosario said. “What could be more important than that detective to you right now? He is surely distracting you.” She scolded.

“If I am with Jack it is because Martin asked me to do so.” Primrose said.

“At first I thought I was only having intuitions but when I saw how you gave yourself to him last night, I have no doubt.” Rosario said and Primrose was surprised.

“Oh you saw me then?” She asked worriedly.

“Yes I did, I saw you my dear.” Rosario said. “It is obvious that you are in love Primrose.” She added.

“Why are you concerned about David and I?” Primrose asked.

“It is just out of pity.” Rosario said. “Stop wasting your time falling in love with that detective, you will just end up adding adversities in your life.” She advised. “Because when the detective finds out of your true identity and all you have done he will be the one to put you behind bars.” She said and walked out on her.

Primrose was assigning the maids on some works in the bar and suddenly Diana came in walking furiously towards her from behind as Rose followed her. 

“Diana calm down.” Rose spoke quite aloud. Suddenly Primrose’s hair was gripped from behind and then she was pushed down by Diana. Rose ran to Diana and held her.

“Stop this Diana!” Rose insisted.

“You wicked woman, what have you done to my man?” Diana yelled. Primrose got up and put her hair well. The three of them found themselves astonished and staring at each other. 

“Could it be…” Rose wondered as she stared at her.

After 3 minutes of silence and stares, Primrose yelled “What on earth is wrong with you? Are you crazy?” 

“Sis…” Rose called as Primrose felt a sudden heartache. “Is that you?” Rose asked.

“No it can’t be…” Diana muttered.

“Who are you people and who are you looking for?” Primrose asked.

“Primrose?” Diana wondered.

“Primrose?” Primrose wondered. “My name is Rose and I think I need some explanations over what happened some minutes ago.” She added as she pretended to be angry. Rose went to hug her but Primrose stopped her.

“Sis…” Rose called as she wondered, “It is us, your sisters Diana and I.” she added.

“I have no idea of what you are talking about.” Primrose claimed. She walked towards Diana. “So you are Diana, my man’s ex woman.” She said. “You should have seen how Jack is happy with me. We are crazy for each other and I will never let him go, especially because of some psycho like you.” She boldly claimed. Diana was just speechlessly listening to her in disbelief.

 She then turned to Rose, “I wonder why you would even confuse me with your sister, this looks can never be similar to anybody’s, waste of time.” Primrose said and walked to the restroom. She locked herself in one of the toilets and cried painfully. “My beautiful sisters.” She thought as tears fell from her eyes.

Later on, Diana and Rose were driving back home. They were still wondering because of what happened. Rose was the one driving.

“It is her, isn’t she?” Rose asked.

“She didn’t sound like our sis though.” Diana commented.

“They said her name is Rose Gerald, search her on your phone. Let’s know if she really exists.” Rose suggested. Diana took her phone and searched.

“Yeah…she exists. There are even her pictures when she was a teenager and she is not our sis.” Diana said after they saw her details. Rose checked on them and doubtfully sighed. “I see but how comes she looks so much like her? Fine we haven’t seen Primrose for a good number of years but we haven’t forgotten her looks.” Rose reasoned.

“She doesn’t look exactly like Primrose though.” Diana said.

“Oh come on, you don’t look exactly like you were 8 years ago.” Rose corrected. 

“Let’s go home and get to the bottom of this. If today passes and nothing supports she is Primrose, my hate for her still stands.” Diana said.

“Diana,” Rose called.

“I know Prim I know my sister. I know she doesn’t speak that way, she has such a good heart, she would have never denied us. Above all, she would never steal anybody’s man.” Diana said.

“I know Prim too. She is as beautiful as we saw her, those eyes and her looks in general.” Rose said.

“Drive fast because I can’t wait.” Diana said.

Martin was in his house together with his people and suddenly some officers together with the detectives appeared. 

“Good day Mr. Martin.” Jack said and Martin was surprised to see them there.

“How can I help you detectives.” Martin asked.

“We are here to search your house.” Jack said.

“What…” Martin wanted to say something but Martinez interrupted. “Are you going to ask if we have this?” He showed him the search warrant. Martin wasn’t holding anything that would make them suspicious in the house.

“Go ahead detectives.” Martin said.

“Officers go ahead and search every single place.” Jack gave the order and the officers proceeded.

In the end the officers came back empty handed. Martin laughed as he looked at Jack and Martinez.

“I am really sorry for the disappointment detectives.” Martin said. Martinez and Jack looked at each other in disbelief.

“I am afraid we are not really disappointed Mr. Martin.” Tom appeared carrying a transparent plastic bag containing black clothes, black shoes and a blond wig. When Martin saw that he was surprised and stood from where he sat. Tom gave them to Jack.

“I haven’t opened it but taking a close look it is the dressing code that was described by those who saw the woman that went with the senator in the room and the woman that Clive John mentioned.” Tom said.

“I am afraid that you need to come with us to the station, Mr. Martin.” Martinez said. Martin looked at them in disbelief and later on went with them. They interrogated him but he would give shortcut answers.

“Mr. Martin I suggest you cooperate or else…” Martinez said.

“Or else what? Don’t threaten me detective. I have answered you a thousand times that I don’t know how those things got in my house. Come on, you can find those stuffs in any households, it is just a wig, clothes and shoes.” Martin said.

“But we found then in yours.” Jack said. Suddenly Martin’s lawyer arrived.

“Well I have said enough.” Martin said. The lawyer talked to the detective and they came back to Martin.

“The investigation is going on and am afraid to tell you that you are not supposed to leave Montes until the investigation is done, is that clear sir?” Jack asked. Martin got up and went to stand beside his lawyer.

“Is that clear sir?” Jack asked again. Martin nodded. “Very clear.” Martin said and walked out with his lawyer. When Martin arrived home he was very angry and threw everything around.

“Go bring that stupid girl right now.” Martin ordered Basil.

“Yes boss.” Basil said and left immediately.
