Olivia POV
When I woke up the next morning, Westley was already gone. He slept on the couch as he wanted me to get used to him and being in this new place. There was a table across the room, and it had breakfast on it for me. When I got closer, I was able to see a note that was written with it. I looked under the lid off of the tray and saw pancakes with peaches and raspberries. When I picked up the note, someone walked into the room.
When I turned around, there was a sweet older lady who was standing at the door. "Mrs. I am the head housekeeper, Betty. I help run the house. Is there anything I can help with?" said Betty. Um, I was hoping to get some clean clothes. All my clothes I grabbed are dirty and have been contaminated by my stepsister and my now ex- fiancé.
"Right away, Mrs., I can have your clothes washed, and also, Mr. Westley wanted you to pick out some new clothes. He plans to take you somewhere for a couple of weeks before introducing you to the rest of the family. We will be bringing it in at noon. This way you will be all ready for it. We will have it down the hall in another room because there is going to be a lot. Is there any specific store you like, in particular, to be brought in?" said Betty.
I nodded my head and decided maybe a soak in the tub that I saw would do me some good while I waited for my clothes to be done. Betty took my suitcases to help carry all the clothes, and thankfully she did. I saw a robe that had been placed in the bathroom before Betty left the room, and I was glad that she left it for me in case my clothes were not back on time. It was about 8:00 a.m. when I got into the bath and the bubble bath felt so great. Just as I was getting out, drying off, and then putting the robe on, I heard another person in the room. "Hello Mrs., Hello Mrs.!!!!" was all I heard.
I walked out and saw a pretty young woman who looked right about my age. After a couple of minutes, all I could do was gingerly wave. "I... I was told to come and check on you to make sure everything was OK. The cooks also forgot your orange juice, so I brought it up for you. My name is Marleen, please let me know if you need anything," said Marleen. Um... um.... hey Marleen, I wasn't too sure about whom to tell, but I am actually allergic to some of the things you gave me for breakfast.
Would it be ok for the cooks to make me something different? " Oh my lady, I am so sorry. Please tell me what you are allergic to. I want to give this listen to the kitchen staff so that they know not to give it to you again," said Marleen. She watched as I wrote down my list of allergies while I drank my orange juice. I started to feel a little sick and ran to the bathroom to throw up.
When I came back out, she had a glass of water for me to sip on. She brought in some saltine crackers. Just as I finished my list of food allergies, I felt sick again. I laid down and ate some more crackers and sipped on the water until my new breakfast came. I finally felt better enough to eat the omelet and I stuck with drinking the water. When she brought in my breakfast, I asked what brand the orange juice was.
"I believe it was by Highland Dairy. That's the one we usually get for Mr. Westley, but I have a feeling after today he will have Mrs. Betty change that to something you can drink or make sure we get you some orange juice that you can drink. I also brought your suitcases back and your clothes will be here in fifteen minutes. Your suitcases got cleaned out, it looked like someone was pretty gross with the suitcase before they put your clothes in. I hope everything will be better with you here. I have not seen Mr. Westley react the way he has with you.... he usually is not this nice to anyone.
Even with his previous girlfriend, he was willing to go the distance, but he never brought stuff to the house for her to pick out. He wouldn't let her buy anything without him their, she refused to work, and he was fine with that, but with you, I see a difference in Mr. Westley and you guys were just married yesterday. I feel like you were the strength he needed when Arianna broke up with him. I'll let you finish eating and check on your clothes though. Please ask any questions if you have any," said Marleen. Marleen left and went to check on my clothes and I looked at the suitcases, and they looked like they were brand new.
I laid down on the bed after breakfast feeling better from having something on my stomach and, since I was drinking water instead of the orange juice they had, I felt a lot better. I was ready to have my clothes and I didn't want to stay in the robe the whole time, so I figured maybe Westley wouldn't mind if I borrowed one of his shirts to wear as a dress. I went to his closet and looked through his and found a white shirt that I figured he would not mind if I borrowed. It was about thirty minutes later when Marleen brought my clothes in, and I ended up needing help getting dressed. When I broke my leg, it got broken good from being pushed down 5 flights of stairs that my stepsister decided to push me down when I was 17, after my dad had died. When the weather makes a sudden change it makes it hard for me to get dressed sometimes.
I felt so bad that she had to help me with getting dressed. When I sat down on the bed, I didn't want to get up, I finally had to explain what happened and why I needed the help. I had her make some hot water and bring some lemons and honey to me before I told her and when I was sipping on the hot lemon water and honey. She drank some with me and we started talking. I hoped maybe telling her what happened would be OK. I told her what happened and how I broke almost every bone in my body and so, when it rained, got cold, snowed, severe storms made me hurt so badly. I told her that because of this I wasn't able to wear heels for a long period of time unless I could take them off and walk around.
I watched as Marleen whipped out her phone and began texting the security guard, Jack I believed was his name. In a unexpected twist, she told me that he was her older brother. They were 15 years apart. Their mom was raped at 14 and became pregnant and, no matter what she did, she just couldn't get rid of him. His biological DNA father was put in prison because he was 25 when he did that, and he had a juvenile record, so they knew that he would be a problem. His mom met Marleen's dad when she was 30, and he wanted a child, and he loved her brother as his own and actually adopted Jack.
They were a great family, and she showed me their family photos, and he was one of the reasons she got a job here. She didn't feel safe without being near her big brother and, with him having military training, he made her feel that much safer. He enlisted when he was 18 and finished his tour when he turned 26 because he was released for medical reasons. About a year later he started working for Westley, and he has done great for him. It made me happy to know that he took care of both the siblings and that he made sure they worked together and went home together when it was time for a shift change or for the night. They were a dynamic duo from what I heard from Mrs. Betty when I asked about them.
Thankfully, I was able to get to know Marleen and I requested to keep her and Betty as my main people to be around me, other than Jack, who would stick to me like glue, especially if I was with Westley and someone tried to target me. My family was not known till after my father died, and I am pretty sure that my inheritance money is how my family got known. Marleen knew a bit about Westley, so I was happy I got to learn some things about my husband. I just hoped that he would not hate me or want a divorce because I always promised myself I would only get married once. Marleen left for a while and I sat in the rocking chair. Sipping on some tea and rocking back and forth, I felt great as I sat down with some of my books, cleaning them off and then picking one to read.
