EMBER'S POV
"You've been condemned to death, do you think I'll let you live?" A familiar voice drifted into my ears forcing me to open my eyes.
"Alpha Asher!" I froze as I backed away, my heart thumping loudly and my legs were unstable
I felt it would be better if my heart would burst out of my chest so I would die because of the way it was thumping as it was akin to that of a thousand galloping horses.
Looking at those eyes of his, it was evident that he was hell-bent on killing me which made me wonder what I had for you.
"You can go to hell b***h," Alpha Asher smirked as he lunged toward me, his claws penetrating my heart.
----
I gasped for breath as the feeling of death overtook me while I subconsciously placed a hand on my chest to feel that my heart was still there.
After some minutes, I was able to calm myself. Yeah, I was alive, I didn't die from the fall of over a hundred feet which was quite a miracle.
But wait, where the hell was I? I couldn't recognize a thing as the cottage was quite dark which made it quite evident that it was already nighttime.
Suddenly, my head began to hurt as memories flowed in, the throbbing pain was so much I couldn't prevent years from flowing down my face.
After a while, the pain stopped as I proceeded to digest what I had just remembered. Even though there wasn't that much, it was quite familiar.
After a while, I shook away all my thoughts and tried to stand up. I knew I had to leave, I couldn't put my savior in trouble. I was sure that Alpha Asher would sooner or later realize that I was still alive and come looking for me.
But then, I had overestimated myself and underestimated the height which I had fallen from. Immediately, my feet touched the floor, and a new source of pain cruised through my body.
It was as if I was stepping on pins arranged on the floor. Letting out a low grunt, I knew I couldn't give in and managed to walk to the door.
Opening the door, the view in front of me threw me off guard. The cottage was in the middle of a forest. Just in front of the cottage was a flowing river, not far from the river was a figure standing with his back facing me.
I knew this must probably be my savior, but then, I couldn't allow him to know that I had woken up. I had to leave as soon as I could even though I was in pain with each step I took.
"So you've woken up and want to leave without goodbyes." A gentle voice sounded right behind me just as I was about to leave.
Immediately, I froze in shock not knowing what to do. Even though I knew that the person who had talked was many feet away from me, his voice sounded right behind me.
Slowly, I turned around to look at him, but to my shock, he was still facing the river.
"I..."
"Don't talk too much, you're still too weak to walk around, so don't even think about leaving." He cut me off.
"But..."
"Don't worry about any impending danger, they can't possibly find you in a short amount of time, once you've recovered, I'll let you go if that's what you want." He cut me off again.
Hearing his words, I realized that he might not be as bad as I imagined. But then again I didn't want to cause him any trouble.
"Don't worry, you're completely safe here." He sighed, turning around to face me.
For a moment, I was taken away by his appearance. He had a rather muscular build and the calmness in his eyes was one I had never seen before.
"By the way, who's Alpha Asher?"
"Huh?" I froze for about a second as his words brought me out of my fantasies.
"How did you know about him?" I frowned moving backward as a sense of trepidation rose in my heart and I grew vigilant to my surroundings.
"Calm down, lady," He chuckled.
"You mentioned his name when you woke up from your sleep some days ago and also mumbled the name many times while you were asleep.
Hearing his explanation, I breathed in a sigh of relief as I remembered vaguely that I had done something like that. But wait, he said some days ago?
Did that mean I had been asleep for days? Well, that should be the case as I felt that was the truth.
"So tell me, lady, who's Alpha Asher, you seem rather afraid when I mentioned his name." The man chuckled, staring at me.
"My name is Ember, not lady," I frowned, choosing to ignore his question.
I still needed to be on guard so there was no way I was going to tell him who Alpha Asher was.
"You haven't answered my question Ember." The man smiled, changing the way he addressed me.
"I...I don't know..." I shuttered as I lied through my teeth.
"I see." He muttered before turning away from me.
"By the way what's your name?" I mustered up my courage to ask for his name as it felt absurd not knowing my savior's name.
"I thought you weren't going to ask." He chuckled, "By the way, my name is Damian."
"I appreciate your hospitality, but I think I must leave right now, I can't continue to put you in danger." I thanked him as I felt it wouldn't be right to stay any longer.
"Believe me, you're in no situation to walk, move two steps and you'll collapse." Damian smiled, turning around to face me.
"Don't worry about me, I can take care of myself." I sighed, forcing out a smile.
Even though I knew that he was saying the truth, I had no other choice but to leave. I couldn't put him in any more danger than I had put him.
Alpha Asher would come looking for me anytime soon and I needed time to heal, I couldn't die soon.
"If that's what you want, then you're free to go." Damian smiled, his voice bringing me out of my thoughts.
I nodded slightly before turning around to leave. I braced myself as I took the first step. Just as he had said, it was as if I was stepping on needles, but then I could care less, all I wanted was to leave.
"Arrgghh!!"
I screamed out in pain as I couldn't take it anymore. Next, I lost my footing on the floor and fell straight to the floor.
"I told you, didn't I?" A voice drifted into my ears just before I could fall to the floor and I felt my whole being supported by a strong arm.
