Chapter 22 I Didn’t Force You

1442 Words
“f**k you!” The word faded away as a big guy with a shaved head flew away. He followed the same parabolic curve as the previous guy and just landed next to him. They even broke the same side of the arm, the right arm. But obviously, his injury was more serious than the lanky guy. His arm was ruined. Anyone could see that he wouldn’t be able to use that arm forever. A weird silence descended among them. Only Marlow’s voice was heard. He shook his head and said with pity, “I’ve warned you in advance, but another guy repeated the same kind of mistake. What is your IQ? Did I not make it seriously enough? Who else? Who else wants to have a try? Hurry up. It’s a rare opportunity to practice your fighting skills.” Kadir lost the composure he had just now. He froze for a few seconds and shouted hysterically, “What are you waiting for? Go together!” The fact was most of the guys were scared now. But a gang like them, of course there were at least a few guys who were both ferocious and not afraid of death. Hearing what Kadir said, a few tough guys took out their dagger, chains, or iron club and rushed to Marlow with a shout at the same time. The one in the front was a tall lean guy. Though he looked no stouter than a broomstick, his movement was extremely quick. He approached from behind silently and stabbed the dagger at Marlow’s back as a snake strikes its target. The grin on Marlow’s face disappeared and his face darkened. He didn’t look back but as if he had eyes on the back of his head, he grabbed the man’s wrist in time and gave it a twist. An appalling crack sound was heard. The man’s arm was turned ninety-degree counterclockwise. His white bone broke through the skin and exposed it. The fracture was shocking to the eye. Things happened faster than we narrate them. The man with a dagger just fell down; another guy with an iron club had already reached the front of Marlow. He was the bravest man of Kadir and never knew what fear was. Fighting was a game either him being crippled by others or others being killed by him. He was born with extraordinary strength. If his club twice thicker than a water pipe hit Marlow’s head, Marlow’s funeral would happen tomorrow. But this wasn’t possible. Before the shadow of the club’s trajectory in the air disappeared, the guys who were staring with slack jaws found that the other end of the club miraculously ended in Marlow’s hand! Marlow tightened his grip on the club and gave it a pull. At the same time, he lifted his foot and kicked to the chest of that guy. The guy then flew as fast as his waving of the club just now and almost in the same trajectory backward. His head bumped into the pillar of the spacey hall. Blood splashed and he lied next to the pillar without moving. At this moment, a tattooed guy with chains ran ahead. He was the most cunning one among his brothers. He waited till the last moment because he wanted to see how the situation between the enemy and their side went. When he saw Marlow beat his pals as easily as cutting fruit or vegetable, this tattooed man with chains wailed though he had already rushed to the front of Marlow, “Don’t waste your strength. I will do it myself.” After he said that, he clenched his teeth and broke his lower arm with the chains. “Wow, bravo! I’ll give you fifty percent discounts for the appearance fee,” praised Marlow, nodding his head. The people there were all stupefied. Marlow looked up at Kadir, who was standing by the rail on the second floor dreamingly and shouted, “Mr. Foxon, as I said just now, we are all civilized people. I just thought again and I think it’s uncivil to handle things in such a bloody way. So I want to show you the civilized way.” As he said, he picked up the club Kadir’s guy left on the floor and held the ends of it with each hand. He gave out a loud shout and moved his hands to each other slowly. The club bent under his strength and turned into a U shape pipe slowly. Marlow relaxed and said with sorrow, “Sorry. It’s a humiliation to me! I wanted to break it, but it seems I am too old.” Kadir nearly fell over the rail from the second floor hearing his words. ‘Sh*t! I have to grade him ninety-eight out of one hundred scores. The material of the iron club might be inferior, but it is still iron. I myself can’t break a wooden club, let alone an iron club!” Marlow threw the U shape iron away and said to the audience with a smile, “Who else wants to fight?” Every one of them was scared the crap out of them and kept retreating under Marlow’s sweeping glance. Luckily, Kadir resumed his senses and ran down from the stairs hurriedly. He smiled with deference and said warmly, “Mr. Williams, Mr. Williams, wait a minute.” Marlow turned to him and said laughingly, “No fighting?” Anyone who wishes to be the boss of a gang has to know that being cruel and merciless is not the only quality required; thick-skinned is indispensable as well. Kadir had adjusted his expression and said seriously to his men, “Who told you to fight? Who?” Then he turned to Marlow and said sorrowfully, “It’s hard to lead a team without cohesiveness. I was answering a call and got distracted. These bastards made such a mess. Come, let’s go upstairs and talk, Mr. Williams.” Marlow admired him for his hide of a rhinoceros. He smiled and said, “No, thanks. It would be great if you can pay me the appearance fee first. With the additional charge for foul language, the total is seventy-five thousand. I always keep my word. I will give that guy fifty percent discounts” As he said, he took out the cell phone from his pocket. “Bank account or Paypal?” Kadir almost wanted to cry. Sh*t! He was blackmailed this time! But the situation didn’t allow him to say no. He said though his heart was aching, “No problem. It’s not a big deal. Let’s go upstairs and catch up.” Marlow turned serious and raised his voice, “Do we have anything to catch up? Hurry up. Transfer the money and bring Daisy here. We have to go now. We have to go to other customers to collect payment.” Then he changed his expression and grinned scarily, “I know Mr. Foxon is very nice person. Probably you are short of cash these days. Okay, I won’t make it difficult for you. But don’t worry. I will come back in a couple of days. Anyway, I don’t have other job to do in the company. I can drop by every one or two days. We have a lot of chances to catch up.” Kadir shuddered at his words. Drop by every one or two days? If he dropped by a couple of times again, his men would all end up lying in the hospital. He laughed stiffly and said, “Well, you see, what a brain I have! My accountant told me Donna Co had made us the payment two days ago. I’ve forgotten it totally.” Marlow said seriously, “Mr. Foxon, I am not forcing you, okay?” “Sure. I am glad to settle the payment myself. ” Kadir then dragged Marlow back to upstairs. Before they left, Kadir ordered his men, “One of you, be quick, tell Lucy to bring Miss Lavin upstairs. Don’t forget your manners. We are civilized people.” His desire for Daisy had all gone to the heavens. He knew he would die hard and miserably if he laid one of his fingers on that girl.
