Chapter 22

847 Words
Tab sat on the floor, she couldn’t sleep in a room she didn’t know. She took a deep breath, collecting her thoughts. Why did he have to be the Jaeger? She recognized him, the body at least. She knew the Crow who wouldn’t fight, let alone kill, people. This isn’t the Crow I know. She turned to the wall and slowly walked backward, refraining from causing too much noise and waking up the demon in his bed. She focused on activating her demonic attribute and summoned her succubus tail. It was pitch black, long, and had a heart shape at the end. She reached out to him with her tail. Her objective was to touch his forehead with the tip and get a glimpse of his mind. She grazed his forehead with the tip, causing her to see inside. She was in a dark room, light seemingly non-existent in the mind of the demon. Thankfully, she had the blood of a descendant Hell-Dweller in her veins, causing her to see slightly better than the average human in the night. She reached out for the wall on the left side of the pathway and began to follow it. Part of her wanted to try calling out Crow’s name to see if he would respond, but she knew that if she did, the demon would hear it too. She kept silent and followed the wall. When the wall ended, she entered the room. It was slightly lit by what appeared to be computer monitors each showing the same thing: a young child deep underwater. She instinctively placed her hand on one of the screens, hoping that the water would flow out of the screen. It didn’t. “Is that you Crow?” The question slipped from her lips before she could stop it. Soon the eyes of the child on every one of the screens opened and bore into her very being. It shook her to her core. She was stock-still, her body refusing to move. The child reached out with his hand and touched the glass from his side, a slight smile on his lips. “I’m glad you’re-” The screens clicked off simultaneously. The air became harder to breathe in. The temperature suddenly dropped, sending a chill up her spine. “Blood… Need Blood!” “Go get it!” “I smell a lower Demon!” The voices played loud, as if there were multiple speakers in the hall and the rooms. Tab felt her heart begin to race. She was scared. I have to get out of here! The footsteps approached closer and closer, accompanied by the sound of sniffing. “I drink my blood first, then you can have your way with her!” The sniffing stopped, “I know that damn it!” The sniffing continued. Come on. I gotta get out now! She tried to leave the mind of the demon but her powers were failing her. The sniffing became louder, they were close. “She’s here… Over-” he took in another whiff of the air with his nose. “There.” He pointed to the room with a bony finger. He crawled over there, the others following after him. He grinned a sinister smile and crawled on the wall. He looked into the room sideways, his grin still on his lips. “Found you…” He spoke in a playful manner. Tab was left staring at the face looking at her. He was pale, his smile big and saliva was dripping from the corner of his mouth. In place of his eyes were a pair of blood red horns. She closed her eyes. Gotta get out, gotta get out, gotta get out. Come on, please just let me get out. The demon began to breathe heavily, his saliva dripping at an increased rate. “Screw it, Greed! I’m going now!” He leapt from the door. He reached out for her with both hands, a predator planning to consume his prey. However, before he could get to his prey, someone had grabbed his leg and threw him to the wall across from the door. “What did I tell you!?” The demon hit the wall hard, he groaned. “That hurt damn it.” They looked into the room, and noticed something different. The girl who was there a moment ago, was suddenly missing. “She got away!?” He walked up to the demon he had thrown just a second ago. He picked him up by the throat. “Give me one good reason I shouldn’t disembowel you right now and feed upon your organs!” “As a whole, We’d be weaker. And if you did you’d have to eat my-” He was thrown into another wall before he could finish. Tab woke up and pulled her tail back into her body. She retreated to the wall for safety. What was that? There’s multiple demons possessing him? She held onto the wall as if it were a lifeline. She had never seen anything like it.
