“Another one?” Zexal’s scrutinizing voice had a tinge of anger to it. “Why did you feel like getting another prisoner?”
“Well, in case the other one is lying,” “Crow” half-heartedly answered. He refused to admit that it was because he heard the other one.
Zexal’s eyes narrowed, he didn’t believe him. He felt that there was a different reason, simply because the one he brought this time was female. And not just any female, one with certain physical aspects. His face softened and in his mind he thought of a way to tempt “Crow” into committing the Lust sin. His face didn’t betray his thoughts.
“Okay, I’ll let her in, but she’s staying in your room.”
“What? Why?”
“It’s either that or I won’t allow her to stay.”
“Crow” hesitated for a bit, thinking of the alternatives. If I leave her out here, Crow may never forgive me. He sighed before giving his answer, “fine.”
Chapter 21
“And done...” “Crow” had just finished screwing in the loop that contained a long chain. He tugged on the chain to ensure it was secured to the wall. “Looks good.”
He turned to Tab, who sat against the wall still in her slumber. He picked up her arm, preparing to place the shackle on it. He placed it around her wrist and nearly closed it. He sighed and took the shackle away from her arm.
“I need to figure out what that voice was dammit!” He threw the shackle at the wall. He fell to his knees and covered his face. Is all of this killing really getting her memories back? Am I doing wrong? No. We can’t start doubting ourself now. Breathe. He took in a breath, calming himself before getting back on his feet. He picked up the shackle and placed it around her ankle. He locked it and placed the key in his pocket. I guess I should wake her up now… He took a deep breath and dissipated the spell he had cast on her earlier.
She awoke with a jolt. She looked around the room, looking for someone.
“Uncle… where are…” Her eyes opened wide when she realized where she was. She began to develop tears in her eyes. “That’s right…” She looked up at the Demon across from her. “You killed them. All those people!”
She stood up, rage burning red in her mind. She attempted to walk over to the demon but was stopped half the distance. She felt a sudden tug, like having pulled a rope to its end. She looked down at her right leg. A shackle was wrapped around it, keeping her from moving very far in the room.
She desperately reached out to try to hit him. She tried punching him, slapping him, she even went down to the floor to see if she could reach his leg.
He simply stood there in silence.
Eventually, she dropped her arm, giving up after realizing that she would not reach him no matter what she tried. She laid there, not a single sound escaping her lips.
“I’ve set up a bed there, on your side of the room. My suggestion would be that you try to get some sleep.” He spoke matter-of-factly.
His body was feeling exhausted, the battle with her allies had worn him out, not to mention having to figure out how to put up a chain in the wall. He threw himself onto the bed and fell right to sleep.
