The week flew by really fast, before I knew it was Saturday morning, I and Charlotte would be going to class on monday and today we were going to make our way to the apartment, get settled and stuff.
The morning light peeped through the window curtains, I moved my eyes from the ceiling to the window lighting, it was absolutely beautiful. The beams of light reflected the curtain colour of the walls, I studied the red light rays on the wall getting lost in them.
After a few minutes I rolled my body out of bed, my feet landing on the cool floor. I made my way to the closet, I threw the suitcase on the bed and started to collect the clothes I came with. My shorts and shirts were my main priority, the rest were for days I visit.
When I finished packing my clothes in the tiny suitcase I brought weeks ago, I made my way to the bathroom.
I turned on the shower, taking one step forward I let the water run down my body, the cool refreshing water made me feel relaxed. As the water passed through my hair I tilted my head back, enjoying every drop.
With a satisfied look across my face, I made my way out of the bathroom, the towel rapped around my chest. I opened the closet doors revealing my clothes, I grabbed the nearest short and vest throwing them to the bed.
While I was putting on my shirt, I heard my phone buzz from the night stand. I quickly slipped my head through my shirt, I grabbed my phone checking the message.
Boo boo bear ?: Can’t wait to start living with you, and poking my nose in your business.
I huffed, we hadn’t even moved in together and I already started regretting it. Charlotte would be everywhere now, which meant we’d annoy eachother more but that was fun, I wouldn’t be lonely anymore. I dragged my fingers over the keyboard replying to her message.
Me: And I can’t wait to kiss you if you do ?
I threw my phone on the bed laughing lightly, I already could see her face. An instant buzz came through as I was walking out, I reached out for my phone, it was Charlotte again.
Boo boo bear ?: ???
Laughter escaped my mouth, I slipped my phone into my pocket without responding, I would be seeing her soon.
I walked down stairs making my way kitchen, everyone was there when I walked in. It was Saturday after all and not that early in the morning explained why they were up.
I took my attention to the fridge, opening it and grabbing myself a tamarind canned juice. I turned myself around while closing the fridge, “Good morning.” I spoke as I went and sat down, three good mornings were followed then silence filled the room.
I took a sip from my juice, my eyes moving between my mother and father, they seemed too quiet for my liking mostly mum. I look one good look at them then spoke, “I’m going back to school today.” I watched my mother’s face change, she looked really sad.
“We know, we had just made your mum calm down.” My dad’s deep voice beamed through the room, my eyes looked at my mother again she looked like she was about to cry. I turned my eyes away facing my dad I nodded my head.
“I’m going to miss you so much, why did it have to end so quick. I was getting... ” my mother voice broke off, her voice was trembling. I gave her a sympathetic look, my mother always cried when I left for school, like it hadn’t been going on for two years.
I placed my hand over hers, rubbing up and down. “Mum, I’m not going to another country. I’ll be visiting when I can like always, just one more year mum and this won’t happened.” I hope if I won’t still be working at mint cop, she gave me a weak smile and I squeezed her hand.
After breakfast I spent some little time with the family, mostly mum cuddling me on the couch like a child, I liked it even though. I gave them hugs before I left to my car, I pulled out my phone then texted Charlotte I was on my way.
I arrived at her place in less than twenty minutes, I let myself in no one would mind.
“Oh Ruby, it’s been quite a while.” Mrs. Dover greeted me with a hug, Charlotte’s mother was like a second mother to me. When our hug broke we exchanged little chit chat, then I walked up the stairs to Charlotte’s room.
“You ready to leave?” I spoke leaning against the door frame of her room, she was all packed and dressed in a skirt and crop top.
“Yep, never been more ready.” she grabbed her mini suitcase, most of her things were at her dorm, that meant we had to have a detour before we went to the apartment.
Charlotte and I said our goodbyes to her Mother and father as well as her older brother, Charles.
The drive home to Kingston was two hour and a half hour long on bad days, on good days it took less.
