I was laughing my ass off from all the silly stuff Eunice was saying, she really knew how to lighten up a mood.
“No f*****g way did that happen to him.” I briefly looked at her in surprise then started to laugh again.
“Well sadly, it did. I still hold it against him.” She tried looking at me with a serious face but she failed, then bursted into laughter.
“This is where all the noise is coming from?” A male voice asked behind us and we both turned to see who it was, Noah stood there dressed in a short along with a vest, that pretty much exposed everything. My eyes trailed off to the emerging body behind him, Char walked into the kitchen With only a Shirt covering her body.
She walked over to where I was sitting and stood in-between my legs, her hands going around my waist. She laid her head down on my laps, “He forced me to wake up. Deal with him.” She mumbled as her head laid on my laps.
It took everything in me not to laugh, I just looked at Noah who was now drinking a bottle of water.
After a minute of nothing but silence, my body jerked as pain shot through my body. Charlotte had pinched my back, she always got violent when her sleep was distributed. “I said deal with him fool.” this time her voice was loud
“Noah, why did you? Now we have to deal with grumpy carrot all day.” I received another pinched this one meant she was irritated by the nickname.
Both the siblings laughed as they watched Char jerk away from me, she rubbed her ear and hissed. “That’s not helping and why did you pinch me?”
“Because I was helping and you kept pinching me.” Charlotte kept at me and Noah like she was plotting our deaths. She left us with a dazzled face as she left for the living, she certainly was going to be grumpy today. Noah followed her after glaring at me and his sister, then we soon followed after giggling a bit.
Charlotte was faking sleeping on one of the chairs while the rest of us were busy trying to start a conversation. “Hey guys.” Esther popped up in the living room with a guy walking behind her.
Charlotte opened her eyes, trying to find where Esther was. The moment she saw him, her eyes darted on me sympathy written all over her face, I huffed then looked away. They all greeted Esther in union as the pair sat.
“Bruh I didn’t know you stayed.” Noah started a conversation with Martin, so they knew each other, my life’s a party boat now. “I wasn’t planning to, but we got tired and crushed in one of the guest bedrooms.” he placed his arms around Esther’s waist pulling her closer to him, they couldn’t be more obvious.
“Cool. Well you already know everyone here apart from her.” Noah pointed in my direction, I gave Charlotte a questioning look, when did Martin and Charlotte meet. “That’s Ruby, she is my girls best friend.”
“Hie, Martin Lawrence. Nice to meet you Ruby.” Martin spoke from where he sat, his green eyes glaring at me. I shrugged uncomfortably in my seat, “Nice to meet you too.” I mumbled under my breath, ‘cause it wasn’t a pleasure.
We spent almost an hour talking, Charlotte stealing glances once in a while and Eunice monitoring me from the corner of her eyes.
The only reason I was even here was because I had nothing else to do but being here hurt, I watched Esther on Martine’s laps, I saw the way she looked at him, it f*****g stung.
“How long have you been dating.” My bestie asked, we were both curious but I knew curiosity killed the cat.
“A year and some months.” Esther answered calmly with a genuine smile on her face. It wasn’t the fact that they had been together for so long, it was the fact that Esther would never look at me that way, she would never even give me a chance, I was just a friend.
I didn’t know how I ended up in the kitchen again, I guess I just walked out. I gripped the edges of the counter then took a deep breath. “I can help you make her jealous.” I turned coming face to face with Eunice, her eyes were full of concern.
“I don’t want to make anyone jealous.” I started walking back to the living.
“Why?” Eunice’s hand gripped my shoulder lightly.
“Because, I don’t want to waste my time on something that won’t happen. She’s a friend and always will be, plus I wouldn’t like wasting or using you like that, Eunice.”
“Then get to know me, not to make her jealous but to forget her. Hang out with me as Friends tomorrow.” I turned to face Eunice, her hand had slipped off my shoulder. “Just as friends and you’re not going to be a distraction, I don’t need it, I need a friend.”
The afternoon was cheerful, after my little act of running off. I got to talk to Eunice for about a couple of minutes, then we joined the others.
I had lunch at Eunice’s, so did everyone else including Esther but after lunch they had to go, which was sweet relief. Then I, Charlotte, Eunice and Noah watched a movie or two till it became dark out and we left.
That leaves me to where I am now, sitting on the dinning table. Having dinner with my parents, who were a little more cheerful today, maybe cause I disappeared from their lives for two days.
I hadn’t told them where I went yesterday, nor the reason I came late today but they didn’t seem bothered.
“Pass the sauce dear.” My father deep voice spoke as I took another bite of my meal, it wasn’t till I heard him again, I realized he was talking to me, awkward. I passed him the bottle of sauce without saying anything then we all continued to eat.
When dinner passed, I was left to do the dishes, which I did. I was currently watching a movie on my laptop in bed, my eyes were as dry as a desert. I threw snacks in my mouth from time to time as I continue with the movie, The thing about Harry.
