It’s been two freaking days since I last spoke to my best friend, since I last dumped my worries on her.
And don’t even get me started with Esther, I haven’t been text her, I have told her countless lies as to why I can’t come over, I literally have nothing else to say.
I laid flat on my bed staring directly at the ceiling, I missed Charlotte and I regret kissing Esther. I dragged my body out of bed, my body was weak and tired. I’ve rarely slept since Sunday, today being a Wednesday, I was beyond tired.
As I stepped into the cold shower, my body shivered from the cool air. I started feeling a bit better once the cold water was running down my worn out body.
I threw on a pair of my favourite grey oversized shorts with a basketball jersey.
The house was quiet when I walked down the stairs, mother and father must have already been gone which left me with an empty house, with no friends to excite me.
I made myself a bowl of cereal before I went to sit down on the living room couch.
I had nothing to do and the Loneliness is killing me, I missed Charlotte even if she disappointed me, I had to accept her decision. I got out my phone from my pocket then texted Char.
Me: Can we talk?
I waited for her response which didn’t take long at all.
Boo boo bear ?: yeah, I’ll be over in twenty minutes.
I didn’t bother reply, I just switched off my phone. Yes her name was boo boo bear in my phone but that wasn’t me, she did it herself and I was always too lazy to change it back.
Twenty minutes felt like hours, it wasn’t until Charlotte showed up in the driveway. I waited on the couch a little nervous on how I’d start, then I heard the click of the front door, it was now or never.
Charlotte sat on the singles couch, as though she was single. “Ruby I can explain, you know I don’t stuff without purpose.” she blurted out once the silence was unbearable.
“I know, that’s why I wanted to talk.” I breathed in then exhaled, my gaze on Charlotte now. “It’s okay if you want to give him another chance, but be careful please. Seeing you hurting doesn’t please me at all, I hope he has really changed and love is difficult Char. Does he know you love him and does she love you?” Charlotte’s face looked shocked and to be honest so was I, the words that came out of my mouth weren’t what I wanted to say.
“Yes he does.” she paused then ran her fingers through her dark hair, it was always a habit of her when she got nervous. “He.. he said he did. He showed it, he hasn’t touched me sexually since we started dating again.” Her voice grew weaker at the end, she was rather disappointed but I could tell she wasn’t that eager.
“How long have you been back together.” I looked at her directly in the eyes, Char hated eye contact and she always failed to lie when she looked you in the eyes.
“This is the third week.” I looked at her dumbfound, there was no way Noah Johnson hadn’t slept with Char again, no way in hell. “You shitting me right?” Char nodded her head in disagreement.
“Well, we’ll be damned, that boy is really in love.Wow, what did you give him.” Charlotte lightly giggled before she walked up to me and slept beside me on the couch, she placed her arms around my wait and mine were on around her neck. She pulled me closer to her and I held her tightly.
“I missed you.” I whispered into her ear, I truly missed her. “Me too, baby.”
After twenty minutes of JUST cuddling with my best friend, we sat upright on the couch deciding on watching a series.
We were halfway through the movie and Char just started asking questions, there was the girl I knew. “We should invite Esther.” she kept eating her Doritos, I gave her a side glare.
“No it’s best time, she probably has better things to do.” I drew my attention back to the screen.
“You sure that’s the only reason?” her lips were curled up in smirk, damn this girl and annoying me. If Esther was here I would freeze cause I did a stupid thing that she considers nothing.
“Yes Char, She’s busy.” I stole a hand full of her Doritos.
“I’ll just ask her personally then and ask if she likes you, girl code.” I snapped my head to the direction of my nosy bestie, her smile was wider than the red sea, I shrugged my body as I continued eating.
“Okay. What did you do?” she raised her brow, she always jumps to accusing me of stuff.
“Why do you always think I'd something wrong.” I suddenly asked but the look itself was enough to kill someone. “Fine, we kissed.”
