He continued to pull me over, but I took my hand from his. As handsome and mysterious as he might be, it wasn't in my nature to be pulled everywhere by a man. I saw him smile sideways as I removed my hand.
Apparently, he had decided to take the stairs this time instead of jumping. We didn't encounter anyone till we are out of the building, much to my relief. Penelope and others were still on rooftop. I wasn't worried about them. In thirty minutes, all the effects from the illusion would be gone, leaving only fear behind. Fear and shame controlled people. Rather than a lecture, I preferred this method.
"Where are we going?" I asked the mortal.
"Somewhere we can talk." He said, walking fast. I didn't have any trouble keeping up, thanks to the training sessions Daniel and I did in case something happened.
Daniel was always there for me before and after the exile. My father, king of Rawen assigned him as my bodyguard as a punishment for helping me to be a torturer in Werren's Den. Werren's Den was a team of thieves, mercenaries, fighters, torturers, drug dealers and assassins. Warren's Den was a second home for me. They preferred me as well, because my methods of extracting information was not messy at all. Besides, I owed them a huge favor as well.
When my father and his ministers brought down the Den, I was also caught. Since I hadn't really killed, my punishment was exile. Others weren't quiet so lucky as me.
I could still hear their screams. The devastation I felt not being able to make it stop or wishing for the same to happen to me at the execution still haunted my life.
The mortal stopped at a pile of rocks. For the past two years I stayed here, I had never paid any attention to these rocks. They were right in the middle of three trees, always shaded. The biggest boulder was about three meters high. Aside from being a cool place to lean in, there wasn't actually anything special about it.
"What are we doing here?" I asked.
He climed in to one of the boulders with ease. I watched him sit down and pat beside him, signaling me to join. I rolled mu eyes. This was like a romantic date in a Disney movie. No. On the second thought, he should have given me his hand for support. Not that I was going to take
After I sat down on the boulder beside him, he gave me his mobile phone. "Tell your friend that you are safe. He is worried."
How the hell does he know that? I pushed his phone away, reaching out to my pocket. "I have a phone."
He looked at me with a smirk. "I can see that." I suddenly found out that, in fact, I hate his smirk. I texted Daniel. "Something came up. Don't worry, I'm safe. Go home without me."
He replied in a minute. "Call me when you are done."
I pocketed the phone and looked at him again. "I'm done. Now don't stretch this for another day and tell me everything."
"I really don't know where to start." He said after thinking for a while. "Let's do it this way. You ask me a question and I'll tell you the whole story."
I leaned back on my hands. As someone who wanted to know everything as soon as possible, this guy was driving me nuts. "Okay, the first question. What is your name?"
He looked at me and started to laugh. "I did not think that this was going to be a private conversation."
"Well, you thought wrong. I don't even know what to call you. And calling you "The Mortal" is honestly kind of weird."
He laughed again. "Why are you calling me "The Mortal?"
I looked away from him. "I have my reasons."
His laughter died, and he looked up at a tree. It was a eucalyptus tree. "You can call me Savin. And I'm also not mortal."
I knew it! I masked my surprise and looked at him. "So you are immortal?"
"Not like elves, no. You guys eventually dies, right? But I live forever."
"Like... eternity?" I looked at him in disbelief. I've never heared of any species living for the eternity. I haven't taught something like that even in Rawen.
He nodded. "Yeah. I... I am a vampire."
Now it was my turn to laugh. "No you are not."
"Yeah, technically, I'm not your text book vampire. We are called Elkelyn. We have our own kingdom."
"But you just walked in daylight."
He sighed in frustration. "Elkelyn is not your typical vampire. We are descendants of elves and angels. We can walk in daylight."
I stared at him for a long time. Finally he rolled his eyes. "Do you want proof? Look." He opened his mouth and I could see that his canines were turned to long, sharp needle like fangs.
I still didn't believe him. I have never heared of something important like vampires existing in both elf and mortal realms. Only the comics and books had them, and they were completely fantasy. I have read almost every book in Rawen's ancient two libraries, and I was sure there wasn't anything like that was on them. Well, I had heard about the term 'vampire', but what the hell was 'Elkelyn'?
I nodded anyways. If I continued to push him about this, I won't be able to know anything I wanted to know. "Okay, let's say that you are a vampire. Or a Elkelyn. What are you doing following me everywhere?"
Savin sighed. "Fifty four years ago, my aunt entered into a marriage with King Renovan to make an alliance with Rawen. And then she died. I was looking for her child, and somehow happened to run into you. I mean, you were the only elf out of the elf borders. So I tracked you from your magic hoping to meet you and find my nephew."
I stared at him. What the hell was he talking about? My father, married to an Elkelyn? Have a son? I was his only child.
This story did not make any sense at all. I was on the verge of standing up and leaving. I wanted to know why he was in my dreams where I kill everybody. I could see why. He was already making me doubt my entire self.
"I see that you don't believe me." He said, looking into my eyes. My heart took a double take. He was so close, I could see his green eyes searching mine. Of course I didn't believe him. Vampires supposed have red eyes.
He stood up, sighing again. "Let me take you somewhere."
I stood up with him. "Where?"
"To the Elkelyn Kingdom."
"And where is that located, on the other side of the world?" I asked sarcastically. "Do we have to ride a bus full of dead people to go there, enjoying delicacies made from blood?"
Within a second, I was pressed to the boulder, his hand curling around my throat, blocking my air way completely. I struggled, trying to break free. I had forgotten just how fast he actually is.
"Listen here, princess," the tone he used to princess suggested everything but respect. "You can run your little mouth, yapping about how you got exiled from your little kingdom, lamenting about how you don't believe me for anything I said, but if you insult my people," his hands tightened around my neck even more. "I will not think about ending your pathetic life right here."
I struggled to get some air in to my lungs, failing. His eyes were so cruel, that after a long time, I could taste fear again. I nodded, trying to remove his hands. He didn't let go for another five or more seconds, which felt like a lifetime.
I fell on the floor, gasping for air as he released me with a shove. My head hit the stone, making everything dizzy for a couple of seconds.
"Now that is clear, let me show you around." Savin said cheerfully before opening a door out of the largest boulder, out of thin air.
He stepped in to it and gestured me to come. I stood up and followed him in to the darkness, still clutching my aching throat.
