Fairy

Edwin and Eli stared at her with awe as a pair of golden wings appeared from her back, her beautiful golden eyes shimmering in the light. Their cold hearts seemed to start to beat wildly as she flashed a smile at them. “Hey hotties!” she exclaimed in her angelic voice. Veronica so wanted to smack her head. But wait! Did she just see the boys blush? They looked so adorable. She can forgive this stupid fairy for this, then. “Vicky said you guys look adorable,” she told them. Veronica wanted to kill her right now. Edwin couldn’t help but chuckle at her words. He pulled her by her head and placed his lips on hers. Edwin pulled her closer as he deepened the kiss. She moaned as his tongue explored her mouth. They pulled back after their magical kiss. When she looked up, she noticed a longing expression on Eli’s face. She leaned toward him. “Are you alright?” she asked, brushing her fingers against his cheek. His face lightened up due to their close proximity before he slapped his hand on his mouth and ran out of the room, muttering, ‘I need to go’. She stared in that direction, confusingly. Then she turned her head to Edwin and asked, “Did I do something wrong?” “Yes, you made him leave,” Veronica retorted in her mind. Edwin shook his head, giving her an encouraging smile. “No. You didn’t,” he said, pecking at her lips. “You are gorgeous,” he complimented, nuzzling her neck. “So do you. By the way, I am Freya,” she moaned. “Nice to meet you, Fia,” Edwin murmured, trailing small kisses on her neck. “I love you.” “More than Vicky and Lia?” The words flew from her mouth before she could stop them. Edwin’s chest started to vibrate against her skin due to the chuckle he struggled to control. He pulled his face away from her neck and looked straight into her eyes. “You three are exactly alike,” he whispered smilingly. “When I said, ‘I love you,’ I meant all of you—equally. Don’t doubt my love, baby,” he purred, kissing her on top of her nose and playing with her golden-blonde, long, wavy hair. Freya sighed. “Even if I want to spend the entire day with you, there’s someone continuously nagging in my head to come out. We will meet again, honey. I love you too.” Saying that, Freya pressed her lips against Edwin’s. Slowly, her wings disappeared, her blonde hair turned dark black, and her shining golden eyes turned back to her creamy brown ones. “Weren’t you having fun?” Veronica teased him sarcastically. Edwin laughed, sensing the jealousy in her voice. “Oh, God,” Edwin uttered in between his laughs, “I… I really can’t get enough of you. You are adorable when you are jealous. So f*****g adorable!” he gushed, cupping her cheek and pecking at her pout. “What happened to Eli?” Veronica asked him confusingly. Edwin gave him a small smile before saying, “Your smell...” “My smell?” Veronica sniffed herself. “Did I stink?” She looked at Edwin with questioning eyes. He chuckled at her cuteness. “No. Your scent has grown stronger, and you know how hungry a vampire can be for a fairy’s blood. That’s why he left. He was afraid that he might hurt you,” Edwin explained softly. “Oh… Aren’t you affected then?” she asked innocently. “You can’t intoxicate a drunken man, can you? You have been driving me to my edge every single moment since I met you,” Edwin whispered into her ear, and nuzzled her neck, slowly roaming his hands under her tops. She moaned, tugging at his hair and pulling him closer. It didn’t take them much time to lie on the bed naked, in the embrace of each other. Veronica’s skin was glowing with the mark Edwin left on her during their lovemaking session. ------------ “Little fairy,” she hummed in response to Edwin’s call. “Can I ask you something?” he asked, tugging a strand of hair behind her ear. Veronica gave him a nod. “Do you have feelings for Eli?” Veronica stiffened. She opened and closed her mouth like a fish, but nothing came out. “I…I…” “Don’t deny it; I have seen you two at the club, and don’t forget, I can sense all of your emotions,” Edwin uttered. Veronica buried her face further into Edwin’s chest, tears streaming down her face. “I am sorry. I didn’t want to betray you. I am really sorry. I… I love you. I… I didn’t want to hurt you,” she cried. Edwin cradled her head tightly on his chest as she cried. He didn’t expect her to cry, nor did he want her to. “Hey, little one, don’t cry. Please, sweetie. I know how much you love me, baby. And it’s alright to have feelings for someone else. It’s not necessary for us to fall in love only once; we can fall in love multiple times. Take me as an example. I fall for you, Liana, and Freya differently at different times, and it doesn’t mean I love you less or betray you. You are My Queen. You can have anyone you love, and I will make sure of it,” he said sincerely, placing a kiss on her head. “Now, my little fairy, show me your magical smile,” he whispered, pulling her head up with his index finger. Veronica gave Edwin a teary smile, earning a soft kiss from him. ******* “Amayaaa, I am bored,” Veronica whined, half lying on the bed. “You have been saying this for the last hour,” Amaya replied with a smile, watching her future queen complain about the royal rules. Veronica let out a grating sigh. “It doesn’t make any difference, though,” she muttered. “Why can’t I go with Eddy?” she yelled in frustration. “Because no female joins the royal meeting, including the queen,” Amaya replied calmly. “And why is that?” Veronica sat up to listen to her answer curiously. “Well, there’s a saying that the Crown Prince’s great-great-great grandfather let his mate fight in the battle with him, and he lost the battle. So from then on, it was considered that mates were the weakness of vampires. And they are excluded from the meetings as well,” Amaya explained. “That’s all bullshit!” Veronica shouted. “It’s totally f*****g… ridiculous!” she added frustratedly. Her parents always treated her like a princess. She always believed she was strong enough, and someone calling her a weakness to her mate is freaking nonsense. The door burst open, and two fuming vampires came rushing in. Edwin was the first one to engulf her in a bone-crushing hug. Veronica was confused, but Edwin’s touch calmed her frustration at least. Amaya took the chance to slip out of the room. “What’s going on?” Veronica asked when Edwin pulled back. “Rogue attack,” Eli replied. “We need to fight. So before going to the arena, we needed to see your face,” he added. “I want to fight as well,” Veronica said with determination. “No!” the two brothers said in unison. “Why not?” she asked before turning to Eli. “You taught me how to fight. Don’t you have enough trust in your teaching?” Eli smiled at her. “You are the best student I have ever had. And that’s the reason you can’t fight. If you come to the arena, everyone will find your true identity, which is what we are trying to hide. You are overqualified for the battle. So you aren’t joining. Let’s go, Edd,” Eli said firmly. When Edwin turned to leave, Veronica grabbed his hand and asked with teary eyes, “Do you also think of me as a weakness like your great-great-great grandpa?” Edwin jerked her into his arms again and buried his face in her neck. “Never. You are my strength. You are the driving force for whom I am still functioning. You can never be my weakness,” he mumbled. “You want to fight?” he asked, pulling back and cupping her face. She nodded. “I promise, I will let you fight by my side when everything is over, when you won’t need to hide your identity anymore, when our subjects accept you as their true queen despite who you are. I promise. Till then, you just need to wait,” he said, kissing her on top of her head. “Bye. I will be back soon. I will keep our mind-link open. Mind-link me immediately if anything happens,” he added, kissing her lips one last time before jumping out of the window with Eli. ----------- “Can you stop pacing back and forth? You are making me dizzy.” Veronica turned her face in the direction of the sound. A smile crept onto her face as she saw the old lady she met in the forest. She rushed to her and engulfed her in a bear hug. “I missed you,” Veronica said. “Aww, sweetheart, I missed you too. How are you?” The old lady asked in a warm voice, caressing her face softly. “Frustrated!” she laughed at Veronica’s cute complaint. “Having a vampire mate isn’t too good after all, huh?” she commented. “Come on, aunt, you can’t say that,” Veronica scolded her, crossing her hands over her chest. “Alright, I won’t comment about your… mated life,” she taunted, raising her hands in surrender. Veronica grinned at her. “What?” “You said you would show me your true form the next time we meet,” Veronica answered with a smug face. “Did I?” “Yes, you did,” Veronica emphasized with each word. “God, you are stubborn as hell like your mother,” Veronica’s eyes were saddened at the mention of her mother. “Don’t be sad, sweetheart. I will show you,” she said. Veronica’s mood lightened up instantly. And where the old lady was standing a while ago, was replaced by a gorgeous woman who appeared to be in her mid-twenties. Her silvery hair fell back in a wave, and her twinkling silver eyes shone in the light. “OMG, you are stunning,” Veronica complimented, placing her hands on her mouth in awe. “I know right. And don’t call me aunt from now on. As you can see, I am too young to be your aunt. Call me Ruth,” she said, flipping her hair. Veronica burst out laughing upon hearing her. “That’s more like it. Smiles suit you. Now tell me the reason for your frustration,” Ruth asked, taking a seat on the bed. That reminded Veronica, her mate was on the battlefield, fighting off the rogues. “You want to fight?” Ruth asked. “But they said, I can’t go to the arena. It will blow off my cover,” Veronica mumbled, slumping herself down on the bed beside Ruth. “Who said you needed to go to the arena to fight?” Veronica looked at her confusedly. “You have golden wings, you know. No fairies have golden wings except for Raphael, the archangel and founder of the Goldeneya Kingdom. Do you know what it means?” she asked Veronica. Veronica shook her head. “You are the true heir of the Goldeneya Kingdom. You have angelic powers,” Ruth explained. “Does it mean I can fight from here?” Ruth sighed at her desperation for the fight. “Yeah. Every fairy has one gift; some have telekinesis, and some can read minds. Let’s see what gift you have,” Ruth replied. “Now close your eyes and try to feel your power,” Veronica did as she was told. Suddenly, she snapped her eyes open. She was sweating, and her breathing grew heavier.
