"Can I ask a question now?" Kay asks as they walk in silence for a little while. "Sure, anything you want," Derick sounds friendly enough for Kay to do so. "Will they understand if I say that I was teleported here?" Kay asks, unsure if that is the story to go with. "Yes, you are not the first to just appear in this world. We have many that got to deal with a time controller like you did. Tell me, did the time controller take your arm off with their loop?" Derick asks and Kay nods at this. "It heals quickly, your body's own doing?" Derick is looking at it.
It was cut clean off, so the skin healed itself nicely with no struggle to tie it all together with medical attention. "What can we call you, dear?" the old man asks, sounding a little out of breath. Kay looks at him and lets her metal companion appear. He has a saddle on him. "Climb on old man. He will carry you further. Why did you guys walk?" Kay wants to know more and more things about this world. "We are not supposed to be walking here. Long ago a chemical was leaked at that factory back there," he points at the building behind them very far back with the chimneys very high in the sky.
"It happened about 300 years ago. Many scientists believe that the chemical is the reason for the existence of the beasts," Derick does not mind sharing this information with Kay. She will eventually learn these things as time passes. Might as well give her this information because everyone will be knowing it. "We call it the big spill," the old man laughs as he gets up the metal beast. Derick frowns at this. "How do you control that thing too? Are you a cyborg?" Derick is a little concerned and Kay dangles her bracelet. "This is mine and it connects that beast to me," Kay gives a brief explanation. "Where did it come from?" Derick had to ask and Kay daggled the bracelet again. "It's a digital mass storage device if I remember the name correctly," Kay explains, and Derick nods at this. "Are you a tech then?" Derick tries to guess again and makes Kay frown. "A What?" Kay had never heard of that kind of species.
"A Tech. It is a machine that looks human and just like people need to eat and drink just like us but can go longer without food and water. They are living machines and cyborgs are usually humans that have lost a limp and a deceased tech donated his body for medical purposes," Derick tries to make it sound normal. They usually don't help beasts, but I hope that will change someday," Derick smiles at Kay, eyeing her stump again. Hoping that someday she will have an arm again. The car finally comes into view and Derick suddenly stops at what he sees. A rogue cyborg. Those are humans that wanted body parts but the body part did not want them. Their bodies rejected the new limp. But because they did not want the limp to be taken away they kept it.
Because of the poison, the body releases to reject something, those toxins made them go mad and thus you get soulless. The old man stops too, the machine scanning the area."They are soulless. Their bodies rejected their limbs and they refused to take the new limp off," Derick whispers as Kay nods at it. Understanding that these are like rogues is to the werewolf community.
"They will attack when they see us," Derick pulls Kay away, but as he does, the soulless already sees them. It screams and runs to them like a mindless beast. Suddenly it hits something invisible and falls to the ground, it breaks its nose against Kay's barrier. Her metal beast gives a sound, sounding like a dog giving a little moan. Kay takes a breath and looks at the metal beast she diced to give a name not so long ago, Paw. "This is unique, is your ability allowing you to do all these things?" Derick asks, and Kay nods at him. "Yeah, I am a wolf," Kay informs him and Derick looks shocked at her and the old man gasps a little at this.
"What?" Kay asks, and Derick gives a little smile, showing a bit of fear. "Wolves are known to be merciless," he gives her the reason for their sudden change in demeanor. "Oh, yeah, that is true," Kay can not deny that information. "And a wise wolf would know that being merciless does not always help them," Kay adds to her answer, causing Derick and the old man to relax a little with those words. Kay sounds wise indeed.
At the car, the old man climbs off the wolf before it disappears in nothing again and Derick gets in on the driver's side. Kay gets in the back seat and looks outside the window. Breathing out air for this unknown place. She loves adventuring, but knowing that her look-alike is a princess can probably cause her trouble. "It is a good thing that you are a wolf. Wolves are the only beasts that will not go into slavery and will also stand up for themselves and because of that, they can form groups and that group can be protected by the law that no wolf's pack will be used for slavery," Derick explains.
Kay frowns at that word. "Slavery?" Kay asks loudly, which made Derick flinch a little. Made him feel guilty about this. "Yes, Beasts are slaves and so on. We are trying to get them to be released or at least paid for efforts like the wolves get paid, but that is still a long battle to go," Derick explains, and Kay sighs about it. "So what happens when a beast breaks a law?" Kay asks the most important question and Derick smiles at her."They get sold to a master, the master will choose the punishment," Derick sounds saddened by this as he speaks about it.
