Crow returned to reality when another knock hit the door. He opened the door welcoming Airi inside the house.
Airi walked in, “Did you eat breakfast yet?”
“I was in the middle of eating some, why?”
She had papers in her hand, a thick stack of them.
She gestured to them, “We have to do these.”
“What are they?”
“Homework from the days of school we’ve missed.”
Crow in response turned away and attempted to run away, “no! I don’t want it!”
He only got one step down before Airi grabbed him by the back of his shirt, keeping him from running.
“We have to do this!”
Crow stood still, “can I at least finish my breakfast before we do the homework?”
Airi nodded, “go ahead.”
Crow picked up his cereal and milk and began to eat it, his last meal before he would do the homework from hell.
Chapter 25
Crow was sitting on the couch, his head faced upward, he was exhausted.
“Finally done.”
Before him laid a pile of papers, the homework of classes he missed for a week. To his left was Airi, fast asleep, using the armrest as a pillow.
He looked over to her and smiled, his eyes slowly drifting lower from her face. Eventually his eyes were stopped at her rear end.
Not bad. Not bad at all.
“What are you looking at?”
Crow quickly looked up to the source of the voice. In front of him was White, holding back some little laughs.
Figuring that he was busted he decided that he wouldn’t try to lie about what he was doing, “This ass belongs to me!” he quietly shouted, throwing in a cat-like hiss for good measure.
Silence fell for a moment before being broken by the siblings’ laughter.
“I didn’t expect that to come out.” White laughed.
“Man I’m hungry. Should we cook the usual?”
“I took the car while you guys did your homework and went shopping for a bit. I found something called ‘Golden Curry’, want to try making it? The box says it has to be pan fried.”
“Oh, hell yeah. Let’s do this.” Crow waited for White to produce the box.
White pulled the box out of the bag. It was mild curry. Though there would be a lack of spiciness, Crow felt that he might enjoy the food nonetheless.
Crow took the box and walked to the kitchen. Looking for the ingredients needed, he went into the pantry and pulled out olive oil along with the box of rice. He went into the fridge and pulled out bell peppers along with some steak and onions.
Hmm it says it only requires a pound of meat and an onion but also says to add whatever else I’d like in it. He pulled out some carrots. This should be enough.
He began cutting all the meat and vegetables, starting with the steak. When he finished cutting up the steak he began to cut the onions, bell peppers, and carrots with swift movements. He then poured the olive oil in a measuring spoon aiming for one tablespoon and tossed it in the frying pan then did it again and set the pan to heat on the stove. He moved the pan around to spread the oil all over the bottom. When he saw that the oil was hot enough, based off the popping it was making, he tossed all the vegetables and the steak into the frying pan, the popping becoming more frequent. He then began to stir the food around before capping the pan and walking back to the living room to pick up his papers.
“Are you sure you should leave the food cooking like that?” White asked as he watched Crow.
“Yeah it’ll be fine I just gotta put these in my backpack and then I’ll continue.” he picked up the backpack that was beside the couch and placed all his papers in the bag.
When he finished zipping it back up, he went back to the kitchen to look at the food.
“Oh crap!” Crow shouted.
“What happened?! Did you burn it?!” White shouted, running to the kitchen.
“I dropped a penny.” Crow bent over to pick up an imaginary penny, pointing his behind to White.
White glared at Crow, “That. Wasn’t. Funny.”
Crow laughed and went to the frying pan to look at his cooking food. He lifted the cap and stirred the food inside, looking mainly at the onions. He noticed the onions were taking a more brown color and lifted the pan, moving it to another place on the stove top before pulling out a pot, placing it on the stove top previously used. He filled a measuring cup with water, spilling it into the pot. He did this three times before pouring the steak and vegetables into the pot. As it boiled, he capped the pot and began to cook some rice in the rice cooker.
Hopefully this won’t finish before the curry and instead, finish at the same time.
He stirred the food in the pot every once in a while. When he noticed the steak pieces were becoming tender, he lifted the pot from the heat and placed it on another stove space. He then opened the curry box to find some sort of solidified sauce.
Hmm… Looks like I just break this apart and put it in the pot.
He did just that, putting the pot back on the stove space that was heated. He stirred, watching as the sauce melted into the boiled vegetables and steak pieces. The sauce took over the pot and thickened just as the rice cooker finished the rice.
Looks like it’s ready!
He moved the pot onto a dormant stove spot and went to the living room to wake up Airi.
“Hey,” he spoke gently as he lightly tapped her shoulder, “the food is ready.”
“What’d you cook?” she responded, not having shaken off sleep just yet.
“I just finished making curry.”
“Where’d you learn to make that?” she slurred a bit.
“I just learned how after White got me the box.”
Airi slowly sat up, slowly shaking off the sleep. She walked to the table and sat in a chair.
“Feed me.” She spoke groggily, not having shaken off all of the sleep.
Crow laughed a bit, “Okay, Princess.”
Airi cracked a smile, “Are you making fun of me?”
“A little.” Crow replied, smiling a bit.
