Chapter 10

The two entered the car.  Crow looked at Airi, “hey, can I show you something before we head home real quick?” Airi looked at Crow, worry reflecting off of her eyes. “Don’t worry, it's not something bad,” Crow sensed Airi’s fear, “it’s just that I don’t exactly use all of the money your family gives me.” “What do you mean?” Crow started the car and began to drive. He left the mall behind and drove to a building. It looked like an apartment complex. The sky was a dark hue, the stars in the sky shining their lights.  Crow left the car and walked around the car to open Airi’s door.  Airi exited the car, looking at the building and piecing together pieces as to what lay inside.  Crow took her hand and gestured toward the door, “inside is someone I want you to meet.”  He walked up the steps to the door and knocked.  A woman answered the door.  “Crow, it’s you?”  The woman had brown hair that went to her hips, glasses on her face, and a kind smile on her lips.  “What brings you here?” “Well I just remembered that I haven’t sent my funds for you and I also remember making a promise to you that if I got a girlfriend that I’d introduce her to you.” Crow gestured to the girl by his side, “this is Airi.” He then gestured back to the woman in front of him, “Airi, this is Ashley. She runs the orphanage here.”  Airi gave a warm smile, “is that true?” Ashley nodded.  “Hey Ashley, who’s at the door?” a young boy walked to the door, rubbing his eyes.  When he noticed Crow at the door, he ran back down the hall yelling at the top of his lungs. “Crow’s Here! Everyone, Crow’s here!” Many heads popped out of doors to look at the entrance. Many children of all ages and races began to run to the door.  “Crow!” All of them had shouted his name in unison.  “Hey! Isn’t it your guys’ bedtime?” Crow had responded. The smallest one in front replied, “but we can’t sleep. Not while you’re here.” Crow smiled and picked up the boy, “if I read you a bedtime story, will you guys go to sleep?” “But we wanna play!” they all protested.  “Nuh uh uh. Beds, now. You know it’s your bedtime.” Ashley spoke, firmness in her voice.  The group of kids looked down to the floor, disappointment reflected off their faces.  “You know what? You guys will get two bedtime stories!” Crow exclaimed, attempting to get smiles from the children.  They all began to cheer up, shouting “yay” simultaneously.  Airi looked at Crow pointing at herself as if asking am I going to read to them too?  Crow simply nodded.  “Okay which books would you guys like?” Airi spoke, kneeling down to their height.
