Chapter 7

Chris pov

“You ok son?” My dad asks me and he sits with me at the table. I just ended the call with Lily and God I miss her so much. What is this? I never felt so addicted to any woman before.

“Yes, Dad. I’m ok”

“You miss her” I look at him

“How you can tell?”

“You sounded so excited when you talked to us about Lily and now you talk to her on the phone you have a big smile on your face. I never saw you like that before for a girl”

“Because I never met another girl like Lily”

“Oh my God. I never thought that I would live that day. My son is in love” I look at him again and then outside. Is it possible? I’m in love with Lily? I never believed in love. I have seen my parents and other couples be in love but I never thought that it would happen to me. All the girls that I have met or even dated before Lily they see Chris Blake. Now I met Lily, yes she had a crush on Chris Blake but she has tried to meet the real Chris. She is interested in my life as Chris and she wants to be part of it. And God I want to be part of her life too.

“I think you are right Dad. I’m falling for her. Or should I say I’m already in love with her”

“Then you have to tell her son” I smile, maybe I make her a surprise.

“You should surprise her on New Year,” my dad says

“I was thinking the same thing, Dad,” I say smiling

“I’m going to make her a present. I will be right back” I say and I stand up. I went to a family friend who owns a jewelry shop in town. He helps me choose the gift, a beautiful necklace in the shape of a heart with little diamonds. And also help me write a cart.

‘I know I may not express it enough, but I want you to know that you are the best girlfriend I could ever dream of. You are my rock, and I’m so grateful for everything you do for me.

I hope she will like it when I give it to her. Days passed and I tried hard to not betray my surprise to her over the phone. My parents say that is a great surprise if I go a few minutes before the New Year. It will be the greatest surprise. She told me pretty much where is the house, I asked and few people and I reached her house. Leo is with me in a casual outfit so we don’t be too obvious and he walks with me. I ring the bell and a guy opens the door

“Hello. Can I help you?” He hasn’t recognized me yet. I’m too casual and wear a sports hat. I take it off

“Hello. I’m sorry if I’m interrupting, is Lily here?”

“You are a friend?”

“Something more. Is she here?” He looks at me again and then Lio but he calls Lily. When Lily comes into my view she looks suprised

“Chris, what are you doing here?” She says and she comes closer. She hugs me and I bury my face in hair her. Her strawberry smell from her shampoo feeling my nose

“I wanted to see you,” I say and she looks at me. The guy still looking at me

“Chris this is my brother-in-law, Charlie” I’m relieved now.

“Charlie this is Chris....”

“Blake” he cut her off

“And I knew I had seen you somewhere. Nice to meet you” he says and we shake hands.

“Come in to meet the others,” Lily said

“Leo come inside too,” she says and we all enter inside. She leads us to the living room and there there is a man and a woman around fifty and a girl who looks a lot like Lily I guess is her sister. Lily has introduced me to everyone. There are also Charlie's parents here and Lily’s nephew who sleeps in her parent's bedroom. They all were excited to meet me, more than her sister. Her dad looks at me a little suspiciously, I hope when I make a talk about how I feel for Lily he will be ok.

After a little chat, I ask Lily to talk to her privately and she leads us to her old bedroom

“Nice. They still keep it as you had it in high school?”

“Yes. They left it like it was before I went”

“You are lucky. My parents make my old room gym and yoga room” I say and she laughs

“So why are you here? We say that we will meet in LA” she asks as she sits on the bed. I sit next to her

“I know. I have to say something and I thought it would be romantic to visit you a few moments before New Year's Eve”

“It is an amazing surprise, Chris.” I take the little box and I give it to her.

“Oh I have mine in the suitcase,” she says and she moves to the suitcase but I stop her.

“It’s fine. Open yours first” I say and she smiles. She opened it and when she looked at me. She smiles and she takes the note in her hand. She put her hand on her mouth and she looked at me, her eyes wet.

“Let me put the necklace on you,” I say and when I’m finished I look at her again. She falls on me hugging me. I smell her hair again and she buries her face in my neck.

“Lily I...” she looks at me in the eyes

“I love you too Chris,” she says trying to hold her tears. I cup her face and I kiss her lips. Suddenly we hear fireworks and yelling from outside.

“Happy New Year beautiful” She smiles and wipes her tears

“Happy New Year handsome” she caresses my face

“This is the best surprise ever. Thank you” she says and I smile

“I love you Lily” She rests her forehead on mine

“I love you too,” she said and we stayed like that kissing and hugging for a while, and then we went downstairs. We say all Happy New Year and we all hug each other. Lily’s sister, Zoey, and her husband Charlie pulled me into the corner and asked me about me and Lily. When I got the chance I went to talk to Lily’s father.

“Mr. Daniel”

“Just Daniel”

“Ok” I take a deep breath

“I know you believe that Lily deserves more. I trust me I believe it too. That’s why I will do anything to be happy and feel safe.” I sigh I don’t know how I make understand

“Chris just tell me what you feel. Man to man. Forget I’m her father. I’m in love too with my wife. I will understand” he says and I smile. I take a deep breath and begin

“She achieved things that I thought no one would change in any way. She made me, instead of getting bored of her, ask for her more and more. It looks bad to me when a day passes and I don’t see her. I wake up in a bad mood when I don’t wake up next to her and everything looks wrong. I find reasons to see her, even for five minutes. I like it when she wanders around my house, I consider it normal. I have made room in my closet for her clothes, while it has always been a sacred place and inviolable by invaders. While I always set boundaries in relationships, now I have violated them. All this I did not want much in my relationships and now I want more and more.” He smiles when I’m finished

“I know exactly what you mean. The only I can say is that I see her happy and you look happy. So you have my support. But if you hurt her...”

“I know. You don’t have to say anything” I say and we laugh.

“Everything good here?” Lily says as she approaches us.

“Yes. Just a manly talking” Daniel says

“Are you done threatening him, Dad?” We laugh

“All good. I’m going to your mother” he says and leaves us alone

“Are you ok?” She asks

“Yes, all good. Your dad is not so bad”

“Well you will stay here or you will go to a hotel?”

“I want to sleep with you tonight, is that possible?” She smiles and she passes her hands around my waist. I hug her back.

“I can put you in my sister’s old bedroom and sneak out. Our rooms are connected by the bathroom” she whispers and I smile

“Leo can stay in the guest room downstairs” After some drinks and laughs we say goodnight. Lily left me in Zoey’s old bedroom and she winked at me. I can't wait to hold her later.
