The story of A Will Eternal starts off with a farewell of sorts, with the setting being a mountain village with simplistic customs below Mao’er Mountain. All of the villagers had assembled at the main gate to see off a young teenager named Bai Xiaochun.

He exclaimed with reluctance that he wants to go cultivate yet resents having to part with all of them. The villagers appeared to feel the same way. While Bai Xiaochun was thin and weak, he came off as clever with his normal clothes that shined white. The villagers encouraged him to live a long, immortal life and sent him off.

With that Bai Xiaochun’s resolve was absolute and he walked away. As he walked away, the eyes of resentment quickly changed to joy the villagers. They appreciated the person who told Xiaochun off with a lie that immortals were flying around and called him a weasel.

His trickery was tormenting for the villagers, and now that they had finally rid him from their village, they celebrated with their drums. Xiaochun heard their celebrations and sighed. While this wasn’t exactly intended to be one, it was a hilarious moment especially accompanied by the fact that a village ender told Xiaochun never to come back and persevere on his journey.

Xiaochun’s parents had set aside an incense for him which would summon immortals when lit since it was said that an ancestor once saved an immortal and was repaid with this. Despite being lit 12 times, an immortal never once appeared from the incense. This drove Xiaochun to believe that getting closer to the immortals would have a higher chance of them appearing.

With that, he lit the incense once again for the thirteenth time, and the wind blew from all four directions. With the strike of lightning, a middle-aged cultivator appeared who accepted Xiaochun’s request to learn cultivation.

Part 1: The Amazing Main Character of A Will Eternal

Bai Xiaochun in the Cover

Bai Xiaochun is a young man who was sent to the Spirit Stream Sect to learn how to become a cultivator. He is seen as a shy and cowardly young man.

Bai Xiaochun has trouble keeping up with the other disciples at first, but he soon finds out that he has a talent for cultivation that no one else knows about. As he moves up in the sect, Bai Xiaochun’s goals get bigger and bigger so that he can achieve greatness beyond his wildest dreams.

Bai Xiaochun has to face his fears and flaws because of the problems and challenges he faces throughout the book. Bai Xiaochun shows himself to be a determined and resourceful main character who is driven by a strong desire to succeed, even though he is often funny and clumsy.

Throughout the book, Bai Xiaochun’s character changes and grows, which is a big part of who he is. At the beginning of the story, he is shy and full of himself.

He only wants his own glory and approval. But as things get harder for him and he gets closer to other characters, he starts to grow up and learn more about the world. He learns to feel responsible for the people around him and to put their needs ahead of his own.

Bai Xiaochun is also known for his sense of humor and how easy-going he is. Even though the book has serious themes, Bai Xiaochun’s clumsy and often funny behavior gives the story a lighthearted feel. He has a sharp mind and often gets himself into silly situations and funny misunderstandings, which makes him a relatable and likable main character. He undoubtedly elevates the story overall.

Part 2: Main Theme of A Will Eternal

Xiaochun Summoning the Middle Aged Cultivator

One of the main themes of the book is the search for power and immortality. Throughout the book, Bai Xiaochun is very driven to become immortal and do better than he ever thought possible. His desire comes from a mix of pride, curiosity, and a deep fear of death.

A big idea in the book is how important friendship and loyalty are. Even though Bai Xiaochun was focused on himself at first, he builds strong relationships with several of his fellow disciples, including the kind Chen Manyao and the calm Gongsun Wan’er. These relationships are important to his growth because they give him emotional support and help him figure out how to get along with people.

A great thing about “A Will Eternal” is that it makes good use of humor. The book is full of funny one-liners, strange situations, and funny misunderstandings that lighten the mood and add to the story’s charm. This was first observed in the villagers celebrating Xiaochun’s leave. The humor is a nice contrast to the more serious themes of the book, such as the dangers of obsession and the search for power.

The book also looks at the idea of fate and how choices can change a person’s fate. Bai Xiaochun at first thinks that his fate is to become immortal, but he soon realizes that his choices and actions have a bigger effect on his future than any predetermined fate.

This realization makes him think about what drives him and how important things are to him. This helps him learn more about himself and his place in the world.

Part 3: A Will Eternal’s Greatest Strengths

A Will Eternal is one of those novels that plays most of its cards correctly. It very rarely gets repetitive and when the action feels lacking, the comedy compensates for it. When the comedic elements feel lacking, the dark tones of the story come in and compensate for it.

The author very conveniently organizes their story for the sake of the reader, in order that they might be entertained. A certain level of inexplicable thought and effort was put into this comedic, action-packed masterpiece. There is little lacking about it, and that in itself is its greatest strength. Though if you want to know what’s lacking, the beastiality element would probably explain that.
