Never Die Extra starts off with Even having a strange yet vivid dream in which Evan was a normal person on an alienated planet named Earth and he was playing a game, one that seemed to last hundreds of hours.

There were many types of characters, though the Extras had this innate quality of dying very quickly and Evan was obsessed with this character type. With each run, he would die, restart his game and make new strategies to avoid dying. The deaths would usually have no intensity and have the potential to be on the silly side.

With several humiliating deaths of the character type being described, Evan would die in vain each time no matter what route was taken. On one interesting occasion, the character’s girlfriend grew jealous of him and killed him.

There were limited CGs for each character, though the production team of the game took a liking to exaggerate this character’s deaths. Evan had amassed cult-like fame for his interesting runs and continuous deaths with his character.

With the conclusion of his dream, Evan de Sheaton woke up screaming it was loud enough for his maids to ask their master what the troubling occasion was. He asked the maids who he was, to which he replied that his name was Evan De Sheaton, the second son of Marquis Sheaton who rules over the dungeon city.

Even then realized that what he saw was not a dream, rather it was the memories of his past 29-year-old self! With that, Evan realized that he was going to die as an extra and solidified his resolve to never die as an extra.

Part 1: Setting and Main Character of Never Die Extra

Evan in the Cover

The action of story takes place in an intriguing world in which characters are able to perish and then be reborn into the same game without any recollection of their previous existence.

As Evan navigates his way through this strange new world, he discovers that he possesses a remarkable gift: the ability to view and control the “Akashic Records,” a kind of database that maintains a record of all the deeds performed by humans. Because of this ability, he is able to become more powerful with each subsequent incarnation by gaining wisdom from his previous blunders.

He is prepared to take chances and overcome obstacles in order to accomplish his objectives, even if it necessitates multiple deaths and reincarnations.

Evan stands out from the other characters in the game due to his determination to stay alive throughout the entire experience.

He has a strong desire to improve himself both intellectually and physically, and he is not afraid to take risks in order to achieve the goals he has set for himself. Along the way, he develops relationships with a number of other characters, including Albert, who acts as both a guide and a companion to him.

Despite his character being somewhat entertaining in the beginning, he becomes rather shallow and dense, which is frustrating.

His inclination to believe that any monster he beats must be weak since his character was supposed to die easily defies his smart and intellectual qualities. It genuinely is one of the worst things about the series for the main character to underestimate himself despite his world telling him quite the contrary.

Part 2: Main Theme of Never Die Extra

Evan with his Harem

One of the main ideas of the book is that people can get through hard times and become the best versions of themselves. Evan, the main character of the book, first shows up in the video game Yo-Ma Great War 3 as a minor character. He is determined, though, to get out of his role and become a character in a story who lives forever.

Throughout the book, Evan has to deal with a lot of problems, which tests his strength and determination. He has to deal with powerful enemies, learn to control his power, and find his way through the complicated politics of the virtual world. But when he dies and comes back to life, he learns from his mistakes and gets better and stronger.

The book also talks about the ideas of destiny and free will. Evan wants to become a character who never dies, while the other characters in the game are happy to just play their roles. But as he grows and gets stronger, he starts to understand that what he does affects more than just himself. He has to decide if he wants to go after his own goals or try to meet the expectations of the people around him.

Part 3: Clear Flaws in Never Die Extra

Evan's Flawed Character

“Never Die Extra” has its flaws, as with any book. The book is enjoyable and compelling to read, but there are a few places where it falls short.

Character growth for some of the supporting characters in the book could be considered a weakness. Some of the other characters in the game’s world feel underdeveloped and one-dimensional, whereas Evan, the main protagonist, is well-developed and fully realized despite him being the biggest flaw of the novel.

The plot’s predictability is another potential problem. While the book is action-packed and suspenseful, some readers might find that the plot repeats itself as Evan faces more difficult obstacles and foes as he gains strength. This may cause the narrative to seem predictable and devoid of surprises.

Finally, the idea of the game world and reincarnation may be a little complicated or confusing to some readers. It can be challenging to keep up with all of the new ideas and regulations that the novel introduces regarding how the game world operates. Because of this, it might be difficult for readers who are unfamiliar with the genre to fully comprehend the story.

Part 4: Conclusive Remarks

Evan Starting it All with his Dream

In general, “Never Die Extra” has a few redeeming qualities, and it could be an enjoyable book for those who are already familiar with the genre, but it’s possible that it won’t be everyone’s top pick. It’s possible that the book’s flaws will put off some readers; in particular, the formulaic nature of the plot and the underdeveloped supporting characters may be off-putting to some readers.

While the positives may outweigh the negatives, they don’t do so by a lot. Nonetheless, this novel can be enjoyed as a lighter-toned read for casual readers. The choice of whether or not to read “Never Die Extra” will ultimately be determined by one’s individual preferences and sense of taste.
