Jane was a regular high school junior with her sister, Lilliana, in the same high school, as a senior. Lillian, compared to Jane, was a goddess while Jane was often seen as The Ugly One as everyone ignored her existence to place their attention on her much more beautiful sister.

All that was going to change in a jiffy. The notorious bad boy in school, Jake, was interested in Lilliana, and he needed so badly to get across to her. What other way did he think of getting across to Lilliana than through her younger sister, Jane? It was an unfortunate moment for Jane when she bumped into Jake in school, and he instructed her to meet him at a particular location later, where he would tell her what he wanted from her.

Prologue

The Ugly One Prologue

The prologue tells a lot and describes the characters that the readers of The Ugly One are about to meet while reading the book. Jane, as much as she is The Ugly One who gets ignored and treated as if she is invisible, is the female lead of the novel. She narrates her ordeal and how she is seen as a loser compared to her beautiful sister, Lilliana. Jane also explains the character, Jake. Jake is a drop dead gorgeous young man who was also a jerk in school.

As handsome as Jake was, Lilliana, the beautiful sister of Jane, did not like him, not even for a split second, and that was all thanks to his character as a bully and a jerk. In fact, Jane described the young man as a spawn of Satan. Aaron was also in the picture. Though he had graduated from school, his influence was still very much felt as he was one of the Morris brothers. He was Jake’s elder brother. Aaron played a role that surprised Jane, The Ugly one, especially in the beginning of the novel.

Chapter 1

The Ugly One Chapter 1

The title of this chapter is, “Bad Boy Trapped Me.” In this chapter of The Ugly One, Jane had her first encounter with Jake Morris. She mistakenly bumped into the jerk in school, and oh, he did not take it lightly with her. Jane apologised, and quickly tried to escape when she saw that she had upset Satan’s replica, but Jake held her back.

“Not so fast. Aren’t you Lilliana Brown’s sister?”

That was the beginning of a drastic change in Jane’s life. Her life changed in the sense that it became intensely adventurous and what not. In this chapter, Jake Morris challenged The Ugly One to do everything possible for her sister to like him and agree to date him. It was the most ridiculous task for Jane because she knew clearly that her sister, Lilliana, did not like Jake. Jake was too much of an asshole and jerk for his sister to consider as a love interest. Lilliana was interested in Aaron Moris instead, and that is where the situation became sticky between the sisters.

Chapter 3

The Ugly One Chapter 3

The title of this chapter is known as “Bad Boy Wants Me.” In this chapter, Jake Morris had asked Jane to invite her sister, Lilliana to a party that he would throw. In the previous chapter, Jake had threatened to make Jane’s life a living hell if she did not do what he asked her to do, and so, Jane went as far as deceiving her sister Lillian, into attending the party, stating that it was a different school mate that had thrown the party.

While this party was going on, Jane bumped into Aaron Moris. She almost sank into the ground because she thought her luck was bad. Who would love to bump into the Morris brothers two consecutive times in less than a week? But, something strange happened. While Jane was tensed upon meeting Aaron Morris, who had the reputation of being the bigger devil than his younger brother, he shocked her with a different behavior than she expected.

Jane, known for trying to escape when things like that occurred, was trying to make an escape, when Aaron held her back. Before she knew what was happening, the young man was taking her somewhere that she had no idea about.

“Not so fast. Aren’t you Lilliana Brown’s sister?”

Jane had asked desperately, and Aaron made her understand that he liked her and would want to have a date with her, but that was after he made her change into his clothes because she had apparently stained hers with the beer that she had spilled on him.

Part 2: All About The Ugly One

The Ugly One By Angela Carver

A girl who had lost all confidence in herself because she had a sister whom she thought was better than her especially in looks, eventually came to a different reality in the course of events. Jane, The Ugly One, was in school when she bumped into the notorious bad boy, Jake Morris. Jake had the reputation of a serial asshole. He was a jerk that everyone wanted to be around, and at the same time, didn’t want to be around because if you got on his bad side, you were sure to get it hot from him.

Jake ceased the opportunity to ask Jane to do whatever magic she could to make her beautiful older sister, Lillian Brown fall in love with him, and agree to date him. Jane would rather not dive into what seemed like an impossible feat, but what could she do to run away from the spawn of Satan that was Jake Morris. Jake asked Jane to trick her sister into attending a party that he would be present at, so that he could use the opportunity to relay his feelings towards her.

Jane did as she had been told, but the outcome of the party yielded a different result than planned. Firstly, Lillian Brown rejected and insulted Jake Morris, while Jane happened to bump into another supposed spawn of Satan called, Aaron Morris. Just when Jane thought that it could not get any worse for her after bumping into Jake, she bumped into his older brother at the party.

Jane was about to escape and run for her dear life following the identical reputation that Aaron had with his younger brother, especially after she had spilled beer on him, but Aaron held her back and insisted that she followed him into his room. Jane was afraid for her life.

After all, said and done, she found out that Aaron liked her. He confessed his feelings for her and even sent her flowers the following day, which made Lillian so upset because Lillian had a long-time crush on Aaron Morris and considered herself more worthy of dating him than her sister, Jane Brown, The Ugly One.
