Danger, love, escape, revenge, this book has all the necessary components of a great Mafia novel. Between action-filled scenes and love-making bits, you get a terrific love-hate, bickering game between the leading characters, who, even though they seem so much different, are very alike. They’re bold, fearless, and intuitive.
Amelia is a girl with power, but she’s unaware of the real weight she holds in the Mafia community. Her tumultuous past will drive her into leading a quiet life. She makes no effort to belong to the high society, thus she is made fun of and ridiculed by the high-end circle.
Although she doesn’t stand out within the community, her ‘unworthy’ life is being threatened by dangerous people. Only those men have no idea that the real danger will come from Amelia herself, the heiress of the greatest Mafia group.
As soon as Vasili enters the picture, things will heat up. He is Amelia’s protector and he will crush on her instantly when seeing her after all those years. One more reason for the man to shield the woman he cares for at the cost of his own life.
I have to admit, their love story is addictive. It gave me some ‘Bodyguard’ vibes, although Amelia is not a singer, nor is Vasili a real bodyguard. But the man’s devotion to fulfilling the promise he made to the girl’s father, to protect her, is admiring.

Part 1: VASILI Not A Mafia Boss Storyline
The story begins when Amelia is a little girl and she’s in the forest together with her father, the Mafia’s boss, in a training session. Suddenly, they are surrounded by enemies and the man grabs his daughter and his men and hides.
Guns are shot in all directions and the Mafia leader is desperate to save his daughter. He knows he stands no chance against so many foes now. He urges his daughter to hide and makes her promise him that she will live and thrive.
Amelia hides but turns around at the exact moment when her father is hovering over his trainee with his body, shielding him from bullets. As the man falls to the ground taking his last breath, he pleads with Vasili to protect his daughter, to which the man agrees.
Years later, Amelia lives in the city, in a big mansion, being surrounded by people who serve her and treat her with love and respect. She lives an inconspicuous life, studying medicine and hiding her true heritage from everyone. Not knowing anything about her background, society considers her a stray cat.
Being a wealthy young woman, Amelia heard many rumors regarding her fortune. Some people believed she was the illegitimate daughter of some old billionaire who cheated on his wife or the precious girlfriend of a sugar daddy. One this is for sure, everyone would like to bring her down, jealous of her well-being.
Her constant harasser at University is Carla, who keeps calling her the queen pauper and treating her to kick her out from studying Medicine as soon as her sugar daddy dumps her. Her opinion is that Amelia doesn’t belong to high society, she is only an impostor there.
Luckily, Amelia knows how to handle things and keeps mocking Carla and her way of applying makeup, even comparing her foundation with baking flour, unnerving the girl even more.
A specific news title holds Amelia’s attention as she walks to her class. Alek Vasili Wright, the CEO of Wright Group and principal investor in Petrov Petroleum, is rumored to take over the company. That’s why he arrives in the country, accompanied by the beautiful Sophia Saunders, rumored to be his girlfriend.
It doesn’t take long for Amelia to meet Vasili and Sophia. They quarrel in a store for a dress that both Sophia and Lia’s friend want, with Amelia winning the argument while offending Vasili. Having no idea who the girl is, he orders his men to check her background and destroy her protector.
When Vasili learns that he is Amelia’s protector and that her life is being threatened, he changes his plan and gets close to her, finally admitting that he loves her. With constant enemies lurking around, will their love survive?
Part 2: Romance Book Review: VASILI Not A Mafia
The romance between Vasili and Amelia is a dangerous one. She grew up in a Mafia family, he was trained by the Mafia leader. They are both stubborn and arrogant, thus they bicker constantly, each trying to dominate the other.
This ‘who’s more powerful’ game they play is delicious and fun to watch. On the one hand, Vasili has this impeccable, domineering public image and would like to keep those appearances. On the other hand, Amelia is the daughter of a Mafia leader and she knows that his status means nothing compared to her status.
I enjoyed the fact that Vasili was jealous even before he was reminded that he was Amelia’s protector. Although he had not seen her since she was fourteen, her familiar arrogance intrigued him and determined him to check her background. And whenever her male friend Caleb was near her, he simply went mad. He disliked her gentleness towards her friend.
This novel has everything you’re looking for in a great Mafia romance book. There’s danger, action, threats, murders, hot sex scenes, marriage, and a glimpse of jealousy. It’s a book I would recommend for future reading.
Part 3: Intriguing Book Such As VASILI Not A Mafia Boss
