Vivienne was returning to the Hawthorn family after ten years just as her mother had instructed her to do. A lot had happened in Vivienne’s life before she found herself at her mother’s gravestone, talking to the spirit of her mother when drama and crime found her. Vivienne was just rounding up her discussion with her mother at her gravestone when she heard some chaos going on around her. Taking a look at the scenario, she saw a man stagger to a corner while he was being hunted down by a group of other men.
According to The Million Dollar Heart Novel, the man in question appeared to have been in difficulty and most likely had been hurt yet the men hunting him down asked him to cooperate as he had already fallen prey to them. Vivienne watched all this happening. Vivienne was upset that the men were fighting close to her mother’s graveside, and she expressed it. Vivienne asked the men to leave and go to fight somewhere else.

Part 1: All About The Million Dollar Heart
The men were obviously assassins and Vivienne should have been afraid to speak at such a scenario. In fact, she ought to have hidden herself so that she would not be seen by those men but she knew how fortified she was, so there was not an iota of fear in her heart as she confronted the men. The leader of the men wasted no time in asking his subordinates to kill Vivienne since she did not know better. How dare she speak to them?
The Million Dollar Heart Novel has it that as soon as the men were close to Vivienne in a bid to kill her, she suddenly blew some sort of powder in the air, and it took the men by surprise as it tossed them away from Vivienne immediately. The men were in a frenzied state right before they all passed out. Following the fact that the men had passed out, Vivienne sought to take her leave as she was alone with the man that was being attacked, but the man tried to bring Vivienne’s attention to the fact that he needed her help, which she ignored at first.
Soon after Vivienne started to leave, she appeared to have had a sign probably from her mother’s spirit, to save the man who had been injured in his abdomen, and with that sign, Vivienne gave the man attention, healing his wound with herbal medicine that was rare and only she had access to as far as that vicinity was concerned. The name of the man that Vivienne Hawthorn had saved was Percival Ellington. Soon after Vivienne saved Percival, she left for the Hawthorn family.
Vivienne had not been at the Hawthorn family for ten years. All she remembered was that before she left the Hawthorn family, she witnessed her mother and her grandmother at loggerheads, as in, nearly all the time. The bitter difference between her mother and her grandmother was so much to the extent that Vivienne’s mother committed suicide, but she told Vivienne to go and live at a particular place with a particular person, and only return to the Hawthorn family after ten years, where she would get married to Percival Ellington as planned. Yes, the daughter of the Hawthorn family had been allocated to get married to Percival from a very long time ago.
Now, this is where The Million Dollar Heart Novel gets interesting. Vivienne had returned to the Hawthorn family, and met her cruel grandmother, Beatrice. Beatrice was very upset to see Vivienne as of course, Vivienne reminded Beatrice of her mother whom Beatrice disliked to the marrow. Beatrice swore not to let Vivienne back in the Hawthorn family. It was strange to see that Beatrice preferred the adopted daughter of Dorian Hawthorn, Arabella, over his real daughter, Vivienne.
After Vivienne’s mother died, Vivienne left the Hawthorn family as her mother had advised her to do. Dorian Hawthorn, Vivienne’s father, looked for her until he could not look for her anymore and gave up. He found Arabella, an orphan obviously, and he felt pity for her and took her in, especially for the fact that she looked just like his daughter, Vivienne. Arabelle, according to The Million Dollar Heart Novel, won the heart of Beatrice, Dorian’s mother, and the woman who bothered Vivienne’s mother enough to commit suicide. Due to the fondness Beatrice developed for Arabella, she took Arabella in to live with her, and Arabella soon became proud, despising and looking down on Dorian and his wife, the very Dorian who adopted her because he had a kind heart.
Beatrice almost vomited her heart when she saw Vivienne in the Hawthorn family. All the hate that Beatrice ever had for Vivienne’s mother came back to the surface as she demanded and insisted that Vivienne leave the Hawthorn family immediately. Of course, Beatrice’s son, Dorian Hawthorn who was also Arabella’s father did not agree. He had been looking for Vivienne for ten years, and now that she had returned to him, how dare he let her go again? Of course not. They were in this state of argument and back and forth when Arabella reminded her foster grandmother, Beatrice, that Vivienne had returned just in time to get married to the so-called crippled Percival Ellington.
It was at this point that Beatrice understood that she would have been a fool to let Vivienne leave just like that, and she swiftly changed her mind, asking that Vivienne should get married to Percival since she was the original daughter of the Hawthorn family in the first place. Dorian refused. How dare his mother? As in, was she not doing too much? Richard, Percival’s father/guardian was already expecting Percival and Arabella to meet by the way, yet, over at the Hawthorn family, there was a serious dispute going on. The Hawthorns had not come to a truce yet when Dorian left his mother’s house for his own apartment where he lived with his new wife and now, Vivienne.
Over at Dorian Hawthorn’s house, they talked about the issue with getting married to Percival and other related issues. In The Million Dollar Heart Novel, Vivienne, being the smart girl that she is, found Percival’s contact and called off the marriage as that was what her father wanted since Anabella was not going to get married to him again. Percival was stunned, but he quickly agreed, while Beatrice and the rest of the Hawthorn family who stood to gain a lot from the marriage between Percival and any of the Hawthorn daughters barged into Dorian’s house demanding an explanation as to why the engagement/wedding was cancelled.
Dorian plainly declared that he was not going to allow his daughter get married to a cripple, and that cripple was supposedly Percival. While everyone in the world thought that Percival was a cripple indeed, the man’s legs were excellently fine. For one reason or the other which readers are assured to find out while reading the novel, Percival preferred to be rumored as a crippled man. The Million Dollar Heart Novel narrates that Dorian could not believe the nerves of his family for singling out his daughter to get married to Percival. And so, what if she grew up away from them in the countryside, it did not change the fact that Vivienne was his daughter, yet no matter how much Dorian tried to buttress that point, it fell on deaf ears. It got to the extent that his mother, Beatrice, threatened to take the house that they were living in from them, and fire him at work also preventing him from getting employed anywhere else if he did not direct his daughter, Vivienne to do the right thing and get married to Percival Ellington.

Chapter 1
“Just give up. We’ve paid such a high price. You can’t escape.”
The words above were made by the assassins/kidnappers that were after Percival Ellington. They had cornered him from wherever they came from, to the area where Vivienne’s late mother was said to have been buried. This was the first dialogue in the novel, The Million Dollar Heart, and the men were trying to cajole Percival not to make things any more difficult than they already were, saying that there was no use for him to run away as they had gone through so much to find him.
“You’re disturbing my mother’s rest. Can you find somewhere else?”
It was Vivienne’s turn to speak. The men that had been pursuing Percival had crossed the line when they came too close to Vivienne’s mother’s graveside, and Vivienne had to warn them to stay away. But would they listen? The Million Dollar Heart Novel narrates that the men dared to try to kill Vivienne, and before they knew what was happening, they were wondering who the hell she was, and soon after, they passed out after being bedazzled by Vivienne.
Chapter 10
“Madam, about the marriage arrangement between our families, I hope you could give it another thought.”
Richard, Percival’s son/ward, came by himself personally to ask for reasons why the marriage between the Hawthorns and the Ellingtons were cancelled, and if the Hawthorns could think twice about their decisions. The Hawthorns were desperately in need of cash and a rise in status, so when Richard found out that they were cancelling the marriage, he could not believe it.
The man had been very positive that the Hawthorns would jump on the idea, yet, here he was, begging Beatrice to think again before cancelling the marriage. Beatrice, according to the narrative of The Million Dollar Heart Novel, told Richard that she had no hand in cancelling the marriage as she was never against it, but that it was the children involved who cancelled the marriage.
“To show our sincerity, consider these 10 million dollars an investment. On the day of the engagement, we will give another 10 million dollars as a gift.”
Richard was not playing. He was there with his grandson, Percival, who sat in a wheelchair, pretending to be crippled indeed. For whatever reason there was, Richard seemed bent on getting his grandson, Percival married to a Hawthorn daughter because he went the extra mile every time to prove that he needed that marriage to take place.
Part 3: Lead Character Of The Million Dollar Heart
Vivienne Hawthorn
Vivienne Hawthorn is the female lead of the novel, The Million Dollar Heart, and she was the one who was the original daughter of Dorian Hawthorn. Vivienne had a difficult childhood, as growing up without her parents made her tough. She was lucky enough to have been taught a few intricate tricks by her mother who practiced a special art of combat, and so having to make it through the day everyday as far as physical and sometimes mental strength was involved, Vivienne was up to the task.
Vivienne was slated to get married to Percival Ellington, the male lead, but she left the Hawthorn family and was not found for up to a decade, leaving the vacuum empty for her foster sister to fill. Arabella was now going to get married to Percival, but as soon as she heard of Vivienne’s return, she shifted the responsibility to Vivienne, knowing fully that the man in question was “cripple.”
